NHL CFC Playoffs Pool III

(2)New Jersey 2 @ (7)Tampa Bay 3 TB leads series 2-1
(1)Buffalo 3 @ (8)NY Islanders 2 BUF leads series 2-1
(4)Nashville 1 @ (5)San Jose 3 SJ leads series 2-1

Let's see now, I'm trying to do the math. For a Tampa Bay victory to be ludicrous NJ needs to win the next three, or just three of the next four? Help me out here . . .

I dunno, Brodeur let in an iffy one during that last game.

Of course, no goalie is above letting in iffy goals.

Pity that the Devils don't know how to forecheck. :p

Yea, he has been letting in soft ones all series, but I'm sure by the finals he'd be back in his rhythm. The biggest problem is that he started what 78, 79 games this regular season? I would be burnt out after that and I'm not even a world class athlete.

1-0 Ottawa :yeah:

7-0 Rangers :shake:

Told you all, that no one expected a Ranger's victory (but it was coming). Now, we are going to bring out the comfy chair, and make you watch all of our goals in slow motion (except for SuBI).

Unbelievably bad call in the Wild/Ducks game just gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead. I don't normally complain about reffing but this one was prime bs. Backstrom makes a save, after it is whistled dead Getzlaf gives Veilleux a shove, Veilleux shoves back, Moen punches Veilleux, Veilleux punches back, Moen punches Veilleux again, Veilleux gets 2 minutes for roughing, no penalties for Anaheim. Ducks score on the ensuing powerplay.:shake:

The NHL has a history of bad calls resulting in big mistakes. SC Finals Game 6 2004 Calgary, and 1999 Dallas, and other goals wrongly allowed/disallowed.

As well, they handle suspensions very badly. Player out (probably) for life = 20 games (Bertuzzi). Player out for series, maybe more = one game (Radulov). Player back after several weeks = One year, never played again (McSorely)

Unbelievably bad call in the Wild/Ducks game just gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead.

Gave the Ducks a power play. Power play =/= goal.

Anyway, it looks like Minnesota's going to avoid the sweep, which is more than I can say for Atlanta the way they looked tonight . . .

Oh, yes. Very much so.

I was just pointing out that -- as always, in every sport -- the refs never give the game to anyone. In every game coaches make bad decisions, players make bad plays and refs make bad calls, but your team always has the opportunity to overcome the setback. It's all just part of the game, including the bad calls. The only way to eliminate human error is to eliminate the human element, and sport wouldn't be very much fun that way.

The only exception I can think of is that US/Soviet basketball game when the refs just refused to declare the game over until the Soviets had the lead. But that was an exceptional circumstance . . .

It didn't matter as the Wild won 4-1. That game was getting out of control which is what happens if the refs let players take runs and don't call anything. It will be interesting to see if anything happens to Brad May for sucker punching and laying out Johnsson at the end.

(3)Atlanta 0 @ (6)NY Rangers 6 NYR leads series 3-0
(4)Ottawa 2 @ (5)Pittsburgh 1 OTT leads series 3-1
(4)Vancouver 2 @ (5)Dallas 1 VAN leads series 3-1
(2)Anaheim 1 @ (7)Minnesota 4 ANA leads series 3-1
(1)Detroit 2 @ (8)Calgary 1 DET leads series 2-1

@Johnny - perhaps you were actually predicting how many goals the Thrashers would score :mischief:

Yeah... I also thought New Jersey would sweep Tampa Bay...

Anyways. I see Iginla is getting back into form, and it was a good day for all three Canadian teams.

Subi, it should be 7-0 for the Rangers
