NRA convention sacrifices freedom for security

Good lord you pecking hens.

If we outlaw firing pins then only the criminals will contemporary ammunition! Those of us who want to stay legal will need to get matchlocks, muskets, and other muzzle loaded weapons!

Those are fun, but I don't like storing my gunpowder in barrels instead of cartridges.

Ok, I haven't mussed with muzzle loaders that much, pre-sized fills?

Yep. Wooden powder flasks with pre-measured quantities. Ball and wadding stored separately. Just remember to snuff out your match when you don't think you'll be using it immediately.

Good lord. I haven't thought about a flintlock and figured it for convenience in a long time.

Are you Clan Macleod or something?

Had a friend with a dad that loved black powder hobbycrafting/shooting. It's weird when you envision doing something and find yourself thinking, ''man, this'd be easier if we just used flintlocks instead. Caps? Positively decadent.''

I really don't understand why you think that. It seems to me to be a totally out of the blue remark to make.

I've seen black powder shooters on the range who clean out their rifles after every shot - by blowing cleaning fluid down them with a tube. Interesting folk - but always helpful if you need a hand reading the wind, as they send up an extra wind flag with every shot!

Around here most of the firearm hunting which is allowed is muzzleloaders. Reason being that there is essentially no part of the state which is beyond rifle range of someone's house. I used to know some hunters who did that.

Illinois makes you hunt with shotgun slugs, makes sense to scale it back more a density increases. Can scale back to bows if necessary.

But yeah, the super accurate guys with the black powder gunk are a world of their own. They smell kinda nice in moderation.

Funny thing is that the NYT admitted the next day that this was a bogus story:

"An editorial on Friday about the National Rifle Association’s convention incorrectly described the rules for carrying concealed firearms at the event. Carrying is prohibited at one of the main convention venues, not all of them."

NYT and their biased left leaning reporting.

An editorial isn't a news story, but - as the name already suggests - an editorial comment. So, no evidence of any 'left leaning reporting' here (whatever that means).

NYT published that they reported was false. Your position on the matter defies all logic.
