I'd rather be a pesimest. If you're always expecting something bad to happen then youre never dissapointed when something bad does happen. you were expecting it anyway. If nothing goes wrong then you have nothing to be sad or mad about, only happiness.

Except if you're an optimist, disappointment doesn't affect you very much, you just shrug it off. I would much rather be an optimist, so what if my mind is cloudy, I'm happy! :)

I'm naturally an optimist. I still believe our world is going to be FUBAR within 10-40 or less years but on a personal level I'm optimistic, it's healthier.

Now that i think about it being pessimistic might not be the best, look at the buddhist monks. They help people and always seem to be happy

I am a Realist...

The aspiration towards moksha is not pessimism. Buddhist monks are not disciples of Schopenhauer!

Pessimist. The optimist thinks we live in the best of possible worlds, the pessimist fears this is true.

But, I have such a lucky life, I am in reality, a optimist! :D

Thats why i said buddhists are optimests, of cuarse you would know that if you read my comment. Nice try though trying to make me look stupid by looking for any detail in my text that might be wrong, it must be "cool" or something

I just misinterpreted your sentence, since there is a tradition of Western conception of Buddhism as some kind of pessimistic philosophy. Relax!

I've lived around very pessimistic people, and believe me, it ain't fun hearing that every possible thing could be bad. (And probably more than half the time, it turned out the pessimistic viewpoint wasn't true.) After a while, you get sick of it. That's why I like being half optimist, half realist.

Put me on the record as being optimestic i changed my thinking

Well I'm a realist so:

Mr. Beale.

Oh, and what's this? This is not my glass, it was not half as full, in fact it was twice as big, and filled with Chimay Cinq cents. Barkeep, replacement! NOW!

Spoiler :
My Pratchett reference a day quota filled nicely.

Optimist. I'd rather think that there is hope, than think that there is no hope.

Taken a leaf from Obama's book?

Personally I am a realist. The world sucks.

Taken a leaf from Obama's book?
Nope. Obama's book is run the country by saying we need hope and nothing else, while fulfilling what pessimists expect. My way of running my own life is don't focus on the garbage bin of life.

Personally I am a realist. The world sucks.
That has a strong pessimistic ring.

The world sucks, deal with it. We have genocides like Darfur, but we don't care because it's "brown people", we have corporate parties, lacking morals, who would gladly screw over their "own" like the Democrats, Conservatives, Republicans or Labour. Our freedoms are increasingly be sold up the stream, by money hungry political whores, who we elected but repeatedly screw us. Yeah. The world rules. (God does not exist)
