PAX Conference analysis thread

Did they hint something that I missed? Or is it just an educated guess based off of the trade route mechanisms which favor Portugal?

Based off the fact that Brazil is in, it'd be really weird if Portugal wasn't in - imagine if they had America but not England.

All in all, that was a good panel. I really enjoyed the discussion in the first segment, and the reveals were cool. The trade system looks phenomenal, and I quite like the Great Works as well.

So Ashubenipal was awesome. They mentioned something about him having techs in his library. Are they just referring to the background of the leaderhead, or do you suppose they have a library UB?

Did anyone catch what kind of CS Sofia was ?

I liked the way they portrait Dom Pedro II, working on a desk with some books. Very serious looking...nothing stereotypical, like beaches and coconuts.

Would someone mind tweeting a question @2kgames if they took out the Pueblo/Anasazi out completely or just Pope? [I don't use twitter and don't want to make one just for this :p]

Didn't they say they just didn't go with the leader they had for Pueblo, I don't think they said they were actually scrapping the entire civ.

Here is a few things I noticed in the short demo:

Sea tiles will indeed still suck, if you noticed the tiles off the coast of Warsaw were just 2 food, no gold no nothing and that is even with a lighthouse.

Gold from a trade route seemed to be based on the cities base gold production, and each different resource increased gain by 0.5 gold (it just read 50 but it actually was 0.5).

Previously in the panel they showed a screenshot of the techtree (you could see the ancient and classical eras (it was shown along with some xcom image very early in the panel)) but there didn't seem to be anything new there, then again it might not even have been from BNW.

Agreed the trade system looks phenomenal and the greats works are very interesting including tourism.

The trade routes over water produce way more gold than on land. Nice way to have coastal cities. :) Also I remember reading that longer routes bring more money.

As a side not Am i the only one who is getting nightmares aobout the trade units beeing automated bararian slaughter !!!!!!!!!
No - but then, on the other hand, they specifically said that this was an intentional part of the plan, to force you to put units out there with them. I just hope that they will have special movement rules so that they will not turn around and randomly change direction whenever someone gets in their way!

Yeah. And seeing Ur in means Sumer will not be in the expansion. Also, were the XCOM Squads real or just a modification for the audience?

If this unit is actualy in the game at release they just use this game to put their own ideas what they thinx is funny and cool withouth consequences

makes sence why diplomacy is so crazy

Wait a second, let me get this straight from some of you guys.

Giant Death Robot: Perfectly fine!
X-Com Squad: YOU'RE BREAKING IMMERSION!

I'm happy that Assyria is in.
I'm happy for the people that wanted Brazil, but I myself am dissappointed, Portugal may not be in.
For me that's almost a confirmation that Indonesia MUST be in, or I will be even more dissappointed.
