I think that Munter is right - I don't think we should worry about Genghis at all. I don't think his borders have expanded for him to have access to Horses anymore (unless he is getting them from someone), so we'll probably only see Catapults and Longbows from his way. He does have Iron, though, so we could see some Maces show up once he gets Civil Service. Therefore, troops built in Karakoram and Beshbalik can probably be sent to the Eastern/Norhtern Fronts.
We've already knocked off Monty's initial invasion stack. If we can defeat this next big one, I don't expect that we'll a serious threat from him for a while.
Bismarck could be a real problem. With Thermopylae under assault, Athens will probably have to rely on her meager defenses to survive. No doubt Biz will send a plethora of HAs to pillage our improvements around the city, so production could be a problem in a few turns. On the upside, Biz didn't seem to make much headway vs. Monty during their war, so maybe he won't have that formidable of a force. (Wishful thinking, no doubt!)
Perhaps i'll see what Bismarck throws our way before i decide on where to focus our forces. If it's nothing more than a token attack force, then maybe we can make peace relatively quickly with him since we are such good pals.
I know we'd like to have that holy city, but having the extra land of mongolia would be pretty sweet, and we'd get an AI capital.
Maybe if someone has access to Civ they can post an overview map of the military situation . . . or even play a couple turns to see what Biz sends at us
I think Genghis only has two cities left - Turfan (his new capital) and Old Sarai. The latter is close to the tundra/ice, and may not be that productive. I believe, however, there is Iron nearby. There is plenty of land for expansion to his north, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him plant a city or two up by the end of the war. (I'm surprised that he hasn't doen this already.)
On the inter-turn, Biz's stacks show up. There's about 16 units total there, and then about 11 Aztec units at Therm
t01/1286
@ Therm: Phal defeats Elephant; HA defeats Cat and then scurries back to the city. I went to binary science and kept it at Machinery for now. Then, i tried to see if i could do something with JC. He would not be bribed with the techs we had (Drama and CS), so i traded him those for Machinery. Our research is set to Music, but we're running all gold for now.
I also whipped Phal's on the first turn for 2 pop @ Athens, Therm and Sparta b/c we'll sure need it. Athens has but 3 units there.
t02/1292
@ Therm: 2 Phal defeats Elephants and that's really all that i can do for now as the German units are now outside Athens. Phalanxes are done all around, and i queue up another one in each city for 1 turn
t03/1298
Therm: 2 phal defeats 2 HAs, and i decide that we need to whip again @ Athens.
IT: We defend at Therm, sending the lone surviving spearman fleeing, but lose a Phal at Athens.
t04/1304
Our Phal whip out 4 HAs @ Athens
t05/1310
Napolean makes peace w/Toku. 3 Phal & 2 HAs take care of the remaining thugs outside Athens. I upgrade our archer @ Athens for 136g.
t06/1316
I pillage Biz's horses @ frankfurt and that's that.
We're still going 0% sci and b/c of the upgrade, we have very little $$.
There's also an Aztec mace near Sparta pillaging, but we have nothing much to take it out. I'm building an xbow @ athens to take care of it. Sorry about the lack of pics, but i'm leaving in 25 mins and have another summary to make.
After pholkhero ran away from the war, GreyFox had no choice but to take command of the Greek armies in this toubled times.
Situation seems to be better ... monty seems to went out of steam, and Genghis is a non-issue. The only real threat is Bismarck ... and GreyFox decided that is where we should concentrate our effort.
Just as GreyFox took over command:
At East of Athens, Bismarck attacks (see picture above circle 1) While defending, Horse Archer defeats (0.90/6) German Catapult While defending, Horse Archer loses to German Catapult (4.20/5)
At German city Frankfurt (see picture above circle 2): While defending, Horse Archer loses to German Maceman (2.24/8)
At German city Dortmond (see picture below circle 3): While defending, Phalanx loses to German Longbowman (3.60/6)
At Thermopylae (see picture below circle 4): While defending, War Elephant defeats (0.80/8) Aztec Crossbowman
At a city north of Aztec (no picture): While defending, Archer loses to Aztec Maceman (5.60/8)
Okay, 4 losses, 2 wins.
And then, its my turn ...
At circle 5 of above picture: While attacking, Phalanx defeats (4.20/5) Aztec War Elephant
An aztec maceman pillaged our iron, and I take hime out: While attacking, War Elephant loses to Aztec Maceman (3.44/8) While attacking, Phalanx defeats (1.55/5) Aztec Maceman
Also take out a German Horse Arche rnear Sparta: While attacking, Phalanx defeats (4.30/5) German Horse Archer
At Athens, avenged our horse archer (at circle 1): While attacking, Horse Archer defeats (4.44/6) German Catapult
4 wins, 1 loss. Making it a total of +1 in our favor.
And of-course, I did not leave Genghis out. He decided to settle a new city, with our sword and phanax pair staring at the party, can odo nothing since the settler is protected by an axe and a longbow.
However, once the city is settled, our swordsman's CRIII come into play ...
While attacking, Swordsman defeats (6.00/6) Mongolian Longbowman Horse Archer promoted to Combat I While attacking, Horse Archer loses to Mongolian Axeman (2.00/5) While attacking, Phalanx defeats (5.00/5) Mongolian Axeman Razed Samarqand
Later, all 3 of them decided to talk to us, and I arranged peace treaty with Mongolia and Aztec. I want to concentrate on taking out Bismarck.
With this money, research is set back to 50%, and some axe/swords are upgraded to maces. Forces are now converging towards the German city. Its time to teach him a lesson.
Note: In the Aztec peace treaty, we did not get Compass. Monty is only willing to give us the money.
Here is the situation:
The phanax out in the open is doomed, after killing a horse archer.

Nah ... I want your Buddhist Shrine. Simple as that.
