Steel is done in one turn.
We have quite some grenadiers to use.
Our last universities are coming in soon
I decide to keep research at 0% for a while to let us upgrade our city raider maces. Catapults are usually no use upgrading, since they won't do much more colateral damage as cannons anyway. And it costs twice as much as upgrading maces to grennies anyway.
Also, having cash on hand can be a lifesaver. If a galley lands somewhere with a couple of rifles, two upgraded longbows will be enough to hold a city untill reinforcements come. ( I later found out that longbows don't upgrade to grenadiers or musketmen. Only crossbowmen do that.)
1: Steel comes in, we enter the industrial age, and universities are done.
Start CANNONS!
I very early decided not to declare on Monty during my turns. A massive assalt by Pholk during his turns would be just right.
But look what happened:
first:
then:
The loss of our workers are a bit hard to take. We'll take them back soon.
I immediately move in our two SODs. And take out those cats.
turn 9: Monty's units land in the west, and I foresee no trouble there.
Our SOD at düsseldorf is attacked but no losses!
turn 10: Our SOD at Calix is attacked. Heavily this time, and we lose some grenadiers.
Now, I made GreyFox a promise and I intend to keep it. Let the attck on GreyFoxTown begin!
A cat attacks and withdraws!
Another cat attacks and dies.
A cannon attacks and withdraws!
Now our pinch grenadiers have almost 90% chance of sucsess when attacking!
Charge!
GreyFoxTown is taken! Huzzah!
