Inherited Turn (1640 AD)
Thermopylae finishes: War Elephant
Harappan finishes: War Elephant
Islam has spread: Tabriz
I declare on Bismark, and then boldly move Chuang Tzu, our Great Prophet, to Hamburg escorted by a Knight. I bring some of the city garrison out to meet him and provide additional protection. Could this be the second stack that Munterpipe mentioned to move on Cologne? Regardless, I move the big stack outside of Athens adjacent to Frankfurt.
IBT: As expected, Monty does a bunch of pillaging, dropping our income to +22g/turn to 10. Yes, you read that right. 10g/turn at 0% research. Defenses of Thermopylae reduced to 42%.
Turn 1 (1643 AD)
Thermopylae begins: Catapult
Harappan begins: Longbowman We need defense in Harappan and Tiflis
War Elephant promoted: Combat I
War Elephant promoted: Flanking I
The bombardment of Frankfurt begins.
Karakorum grows: 12
Karakorum finishes: Crossbowman
IBT:
At Frankfurt:
While defending, Knight defeats (6.40/10): German Catapult Our catapults and two macemen take some collateral damage.
Meanwhile, at Thermopolae, Monty bombards us to 24% and loses patience (the fool):
While defending, Longbowman defeats (2.64/6): Aztec War Elephant
While defending, Longbowman defeats (3.96/6): Aztec Musketman
While defending, Crossbowman defeats (4.08/6): Aztec Maceman
And way down south, I screwed up by approaching that Barbarian Galley. I should know better:
While defending, Galley loses to: Barbarian Galley (1.20/2) My bad.
Turn 2 (1646 AD)
Karakorum begins: Longbowman
Chuang Tzu has arrived and gets right to work:
Hamburg finishes: The Mahabodhi Hmmm, our income goes from +9 to +12 per turn. Personally, I am not impressed. Well, Hamburg is still rioting and that's not going to get better soon. The city screen shows the shrine is worth +29 per turn.
Athens finishes: Catapult
Thermopylae finishes: Catapult
Beshbalik finishes: Pikeman
Hamburg's borders expand
IBT:
At Therompolae, defenses are reduced to 15%, then
While defending, Longbowman defeats (4.56/6): Aztec Catapult
While defending, Crossbowman defeats (2.88/6): Aztec War Elephant
While defending, Phalanx defeats (3.50/5): Aztec War Elephant
While defending, Longbowman defeats (4.56/6): Aztec Crossbowman
And the pillaging musketman northeast of Harappan turns towards Thermopylae instead. That'll free up another defender in Harappan for Thermopylae.
Turn 3 (1649 AD)
Athens begins: Longbowman
Thermopylae begins: Catapult
Beshbalik begins: Galley To replace my folly.
At Thermopylae, I sacrifice our brand new catapult to soften up Monty's stack.
While attacking, Catapult loses to: Aztec Crossbowman (4.20/6)
At Frankfurt, I lose patience:
While attacking, Catapult loses to: German Longbowman (6.00/6)
While attacking, Catapult loses to: German Longbowman (6.00/6)
The next catapult withdraws. Our best maceman has only 73% odds. Let's try another catapult:
While attacking, Catapult loses to: German Longbowman (6.00/6) Sheesh, not a dent.
While attacking, Catapult loses to: German Longbowman (1.35/6) Whoa! We'll need to build a statue of this catapult in the city square here.
While attacking, Maceman defeats (6.90/8): German Longbowman
While attacking, Maceman defeats (6.88/8): German Knight
While attacking, Maceman defeats (8.00/8): German Longbowman
While attacking, Maceman defeats (8.00/8): German Pikeman
Buddhism has spread: Frankfurt (German Empire)
Buddhism has spread: Frankfurt
Captured Frankfurt (Bismarck)
I trade Wheat for 5 gold/turn with Napoleon. We've got 275 gold after capturing Frankfurt so I crank up research to 100% for one turn to avoid getting mugged by Mao or Toku IBT.
Sparta finishes: Longbowman
Thermopylae finishes: Catapult
Corinth grows: 8
Corinth finishes: Courthouse
IBT:
At Thermopylae:
While defending, Longbowman defeats (6.00/6): Aztec Catapult

While defending, Longbowman defeats (4.38/6): Aztec War Elephant
While defending, Longbowman defeats (3.54/6): Aztec Crossbowman
While defending, Maceman defeats (5.12/8): Aztec Pikeman
Uh oh, Monty's galley is heading back home, maybe to pick up a load of Marines?
Turn 4 (1652 AD)
Sparta begins: Catapult
Thermopylae begins: Catapult
Corinth begins: Galley
Catapult promoted: City Raider I
At Thermopylae (thank you very much, Monty):
Longbowman promoted: City Garrison III
Longbowman promoted: City Garrison III
Monty splits up his stack, looking to pillage our copper, I presume.
Karakorum finishes: Longbowman
Darn, Hamburg just came out of revolt and immediately rioted again.
IBT: Oops, there go our crab boats outside of Beshbalik. Well, there's your answer, Lobsterboy: that's why I started a workboat in Corinth so many turns ago, knowing I would screw things up by waking a sleeping Barbarian Galley.
Turn 5 (1655 AD)
Karakorum begins: Catapult
Longbowman promoted: City Garrison I
I sacrifice another catapult to hassle the horde forming outside Thermopylae. 7 units are damaged.
While attacking, Catapult loses to: Aztec Musketman (9.00/9)
Thermopylae finishes: Catapult
Harappan finishes: Longbowman
Beshbalik finishes: Galley
Turfan grows: 6
IBT:
At Thermopylae:
While defending, Longbowman defeats (6.00/6): Aztec Catapult
While defending, Longbowman defeats (3.30/6): Aztec Musketman
While defending, Longbowman defeats (4.50/6): Aztec War Elephant
While defending, Longbowman defeats (2.70/6): Aztec War Elephant
While defending, Crossbowman defeats (3.60/6): Aztec Maceman
While defending, Phalanx defeats (3.75/5): Aztec War Elephant
While defending, Longbowman loses to: Aztec Musketman (5.40/9) Our first lost unit of the Aztec war.
Curious, Monty's galley didn't move yet. Must be waiting for more Marines to be upgraded to Mechanized Infantry.
Turn 6 (1658 AD)
Thermopylae begins: Catapult
Harappan begins: Longbowman
Beshbalik begins: Catapult
A lone Aztec Crossbowman has parked on top of our copper mine outside of Thermopylae. It's a tempting target.
While attacking, War Elephant loses to: Aztec Crossbowman (4.68/6) Dang
While attacking, War Elephant defeats (2.24/8): Aztec Crossbowman
Longbowman promoted: City Garrison I
Sparta grows: 11
Sparta finishes: Catapult

Hamburg's borders expand
IBT:
At Thermopylae:
While defending, Maceman defeats (8.00/8): Aztec Pikeman
Turn 7 (1661 AD)
Sparta begins: Catapult
Harappan begins: War Elephant
At Thermopylae, there's a wounded Musketman looking to pillage our last remaining farm and our people are starting to starve:
Knight promoted: Flanking I
While attacking, Knight defeats (6.00/10): Aztec Musketman Whew! Let's try that again, this time on a healthy Combat III Musketman. First I'll throw another brand new catapult at him:
While attacking, Catapult loses to: Aztec Musketman (5.49/9)
Knight promoted: Flanking I
While attacking, Knight defeats (6.20/10): Aztec Musketman Am I a genius or what?
Athens grows: 12
Athens finishes: Longbowman
Thermopylae finishes: Catapult
Karakorum finishes: Catapult
IBT: Check out Hamburg!
Oh, and you can also see Bismark sent a Grenadier to pillage our quarry northeast of Athens. But Bismark is going to have his hands full -- Tokugawa declared war on him. Oh, and we've got our hands full of Napoleon who declared war on us. But there are no French troops to be seen anywhere. And those workers south of Athens
are chopping a knight.
Turn 8 (1664 AD)
Athens begins: Knight
Thermopylae begins: Catapult
Karakorum begins: Knight
At Thermopylae, a mini-stack of Monty's has arrived:
While attacking, Catapult loses to: Aztec Musketman (7.92/9) Another brand new catapult bites the dust.
Knight promoted: Flanking II
Knight promoted: Flanking II These are the two from the previous turn.
Longbowman promoted: City Garrison I
Beshbalik finishes: Catapult
Tiflis grows: 2
IBT:Mao offers a trade:
I accept it and offer another, sheep for fur. If I'd been quick enough, I could have added these to the first trade and had enough items to cover that ZIT on his chin.
At Thermopylae:
While defending, Longbowman defeats (6.00/6): Aztec War Elephant
Turn 9 (1667 AD)
Beshbalik begins: Galley
Another pillaging Musketeer shows up outside of Thermopylae:
While attacking, Knight defeats (1.60/10): Aztec Musketman Whoah, I rename him Zeus!
Do I dare try this again?
While attacking, Knight loses to: Aztec Musketman (4.14/9) Ratzzz
Maceman promoted: Combat II
While attacking, Maceman defeats (8.00/8): Aztec Musketman Okay, two more pillagers for Monty's women to mourn.
Sparta finishes: Catapult
Harappan grows: 8
Turfan finishes: Courthouse
IBT:
At Hamburg:
While defending, Longbowman defeats (6.00/6): German Catapult
An accompanying Grenadier bypasses the city, looking to pillage.
Turn 10 (1670 AD)
Sparta begins: Knight
Turfan begins: Longbowman
Zeus (Knight) promoted: Combat I
Maceman promoted: Formation This is the one who finished off the Musketman last turn. Feel free to use him against Monty's elephants.
Speaking of which, I pull a garrisoned Phalanx from Harappan:
While attacking, Phalanx defeats (2.45/5): Aztec War Elephant We're making Monty pay for pillaging.
That's my 10 turns. Some things to look for: I've saved up 198 more gold, enough for 1 turn at 100% research. The bombardment of Stutgart is complete and it'll fall easily next turn. The bombardment of Cologne is also complete but we're a little shy on grunts to take, and then hold it so our stack there has been pillaging and bombarding for the past few turns (still only 1 catapult there). And once again, I leave you at war with 3 Very Angry ... nay ... Furious Men. Good luck and enjoy!
Ooops, looks like our saves are too big to upload. Does anyone know a workaround? Civfanatics won't take a zip file, and photobucket won't either.
