Feels like every day I have evermore riding on the fact that "well at least there's this girl on in the internet who likes me". So don't quit cold turkey, taper down the snerk. On the upside, the survey actually ended up coming back after a while. I did it successfully, and the researcher gave me a bonus payment. I guess they saw I tried to do the first one.

My daughter's teacher is going to be getting an earful from me tomorrow at the parent-teacher conference. My daughter has been having trouble with this other girl that has been bullying her since the beginning of the year. We got both the teacher and the principle involved and both assured us it would be handled and it seemed like it was for a while. The other girl was moved to a different part of the class and the principle contacted her parents about the issue. My daughter was also told to let the teacher know if there are anymore issues and she will handle it.

Well today my daughter comes home in tears saying this girl was bullying her again and when she told the teacher the teacher's response to my daughter was "I'm tired of dealing with this, just stay away from her." That is a completely unacceptable way for a teacher to respond to a bullying situation. Part of a teacher's job is not only to educate, but to ensure the safety and well-being of all the students while they are at school. I'll be reminding her teacher of that at the conference and I'll also be filing a formal complaint about this teacher with the principle and the school board.

If you are wondering why I'm being so vindictive and nasty about this, it's because I take bullying very seriously. I was bullied when I was in school and I know the emotional torment it causes a kid. So for me to see a teacher just blow off an instance of bullying because she's "tired of dealing with it" really pisses me off and I'm going to do whatever I can to disincentivize her from making this mistake again.

In junior high, I was bullied pretty badly, to the point where I was shoved into walls and the like. I was told to just ignore it.

Years later, an article appears in the local paper about how terrible cyberbullying is. The person who told me to ignore my bullying was quoted as saying something must be done about the problem.

If you are wondering why I'm being so vindictive and nasty about this, it's because I take bullying very seriously. I was bullied when I was in school and I know the emotional torment it causes a kid. So for me to see a teacher just blow off an instance of bullying because she's "tired of dealing with it" really pisses me off and I'm going to do whatever I can to disincentivize her from making this mistake again.

I hope it's not necessary to tell you but I feel I must: be sure to make this about your daughter and not you, and don't mistake vengeance for justice.

CFCOT is a picnic compared to some forums. You'd think a Star Trek forum would be more civil because of IDIC and looking forward to a better future... but nope. Some people there have trolled me for years just because I don't like the same varieties of Star Trek that they like.
