Coke's taste comes from the Coca plant hence the name "Coca-Cola"
They took out all the addictive and intoxicating parts of it long ago
The caffeine is still there.

They say in Montreal you can know if you’re in the Anglophone or Francophone parts of the city by looking at the soda bottles on the ground.

Coke = Anglo-Montreal
Pepsi = Franco-Montreal

How ‘bout that?
I wouldn't know, having never been within 3 provinces of Montreal.

Every time I have decided to dive into trying to figure out the difference, they both taste like "cola." They both taste like carbonation and sugar. But the base flavor I've always picked up in Coke is vanilla-y. Pepsi's base flavor is citrus. If it's hot outside, I'd rather have a Pepsi. If I am both not hot, and the drink itself is ice cold, then Coke beats Pepsi out.

I still drink way less soda than I used to. Makes it taste better when I do, I suppose.
Vanilla Coke used to be common. Now it's one of those flavors that's only available sometimes, in places that aren't here. Zero Sugar Vanilla Coke was listed on my grocery store's website a few days ago, but when I asked for it in my order, I was told it wasn't available.

I remember when A&W Root Beer used to be sold in gallon jugs (glass, not plastic) and was only available at the restaurants. That was a treat, and you didn't guzzle it. It had a bit of a mint flavor to it in addition to the normal root beer flavor.

Nope! Zero! I have proof.

Haven't bothered to verify it, but read once that the old slang for "you need a shot in the arm" as in, you need a pick-me-up, stood for a cocaine-laced soda from the pharmacy & fountain.

Instead of finishing my sugar calories quota on coca cola or others similar soft drink, better I use it for another plate of meal.

I repeat: I have never been within 3 provinces of Montreal. Northwest Territories and Nunavut are territories. They do not have provincial status.

BTW, your red boundary is off. All the light blue stuff up north belongs to Nunavut (especially considering that Iqaluit is the capital).

Actually you can just go all over the ocean skirting around Nunavut and only doing Alberta → Northwest Territories → Quebec, amadeus.

I did specify provinces, guys. NWT is not a province. It's a territory. I've never been east of Alberta.

Anyway, rant time:

I have just gone through the rigamarole for my mail-in ballot for the municipal election/provincial BS that's piggybacked onto it. The ballot is in the pink envelope, that goes into the yellow envelope. I signed the declaration of eligibility on the yellow envelope and attached my ID. The yellow envelope and ID have to go into the blue envelope.

So my rant? I have no idea how much postage to put on the blue envelope. This thing is much heavier than a normal letter.

And since today is a stat holiday (Thanksgiving), there isn't anyone answering the phones at City Hall. So I don't dare mail this thing until tomorrow, which is cutting it fine.

Put 2 stamps on it.

- Hey Google, remember that meme from a while ago about a guy in a red shirt and two glasses of water? He was crying in Italian after the first sip?
- No.
- What about fake news in my area?
- I think you're terrible person for reading these, these and these articles. Also its incomprehensible what people find here and here. And here's some tin foil hat you might want to buy.

Thanks :shifty:

Just for future reference this post has no hyperlinks. In case, you know :mischief:

Google search is becoming dumber. And considering what I was able to find previously.... its by choice.

My Ficus Bonsai is shedding it's leaves like there's no tomorrow. :undecide:

It is making an artistic statement against Victorian standards.

If it was a cat or dog, it would be perfectly normal. Actually, a lot of trees around here have shed their leaves, which is also perfectly normal.

I want to catch up with some literature, and the CNRS library website is down :gripe:.

I also decided to work mostly this work from home, to avoid people, because I'm flying on Tuesday and don't want to catch anything.
Turns out I must have caught something when I went running Wednesday evening with Bft 5 wind. Or my allergies are acting up. Either ways, not brilliant :gripe:.

EDIT: How can that be that the uni library doesn't have access to Nature :gripe:?
Because real researchers know about Alexandra the Great and Library Genesis. :)

We have this climate crisis, which is mostly because fossil fuels and meat are really cheap. Then we get an increase in the cost of fossil fuels, which for some reason also impacts meat production. This should be a good thing, as it is a fully market based incentive to move away from these damaging products to more sustainable ones. So what is the governments response? Subsidise fossil fuel use!!!!

At this rate it'll shed down to just a little tree trunk before long. And that's not really what I'm looking for in an indoor plant.

From a very quick google:

There are hundreds of species, most of them tropical and evergreen, although some are deciduous.
I think you should find out which yours is. If is is deciduous then the plant is not "ill", but may not meet your needs. If it is not, it may need some attention, but if fixed will be what you are looking for.

[EDIT] Further down:

If your Ficus starts dropping leaves for no apparent reason, the most frequent cause is excessive wetness or dryness. However a sudden draft of cold air or sudden exposure to bright sunlight may produce the same results. Do nothing. Keep Ficus warm and let the soil dry out before watering again and, the plant will re-leaf in 3-4 weeks time.
