If this "Domino's has gotten much better" refrain gets much more widespread I might have to set aside my ancient opinions and give them a try.

Honestly I feel like Pizza Hut has gotten worse, I would prefer a Domino's over Pizza Hut if they're the same price (I think Domino's is cheaper too) and I felt the opposite five+ years ago even if PH was a few dollars more.

I think there was a period of about 8 years starting around 2010 where they did get a lot better, but they are starting to go downhill again in my opinion.

I have found Pizza Hut to be consistently adequate, though nothing special. I have a bias that I am aware lurks just below consciousness though, in that I was in jail during their opening blitz of marketing for "stuffed crust" pizza and had a wistful moment or two of "I may never get to try that." Ultimately, I did get to try it and while I didn't hate it I dispatched it to "not paying the extra there, thanks" territory pretty much immediately, but I know those moments of wistfulness left a mark. That may account for me not noticing if they have declined a bit.

Do try Domino's again. They've become the top of the major brands, at least here in my corner. Pizza Hut is fairly mediocre. Fresh Slice (this is local, but huge) is abysmal. Little Caesar's is... not... great... I mean, it's hot, and it's ready! Domino's is what I order when I want more than a slice (as I have a local place with great by-the-slice pizzas).

I can't really say anything about local franchises and how they might compare. Here, local means bougie. I have no interest in a white sauce, kale and cucumber pizza that costs $35. But I could see local winning out if they make normal pizzas and it isn't too costly.

I do have a local that I think is great and they are cost competitive with the chains, but my gf doesn't like them.

This might be a controversial statement, but for my area (rural midwest) the local Casey's convenience/gas stores make the best pizza... I'm not even joking. It's really good compared to the typical chains and there's a local here that does fantastic breadsticks but their 'za falls flat.

During my brief period of living in rural Louisiana the best quick lunch available, bar none, came from this chain of gas station convenience stores that always had a boiling pot behind the counter into which they would drop these sausages known as 'boo-dan' and hand them to you on a hot dog bun. I honestly cannot explain how any fast food chain could gain any traction there.

Card, do you like the Mac and Cheese?

Well, my wife figured out earlier today we had been sitting on 10 of the tearaways, so it's not like the pepperoni wasn't dinner halfway through this conversation. Kiddo and wife do not like the Mac n Cheese or the Taco varieties.

Dominoes is actually good now @Timsup2nothin. They revamped their whole menu and crust style. Get the default garlic crust, it's delicious. Oh and their cheesy bread....so much cheese.

Yeah Casey's has great pizzas. I used to get breakfast pizza there all the time.

There's a car alarm going off outside and it won't stop.

Car alarms are kinda like urban crickets.

The water pump at home is shut down, I was suggesting that we should move to the hotel because there is no water and there is a lot of thing to do. First we must clean the filter, then the torrent, then fix or buy two new water pump. But to think about it, a cost for 1 day stay in a hotel is similar with buying a new Shimizu's water pump. So either wait for 2-3 hours till everything is done or fix, or to move to the hotel and throw a lot of money, I need to make a fast decision so I decide to wait for 2-3 hour without water, I don't like my decision but I don't like seeing money go wasted.

I'm also on team "Domino's is better than it used to be and easily the best of the big chains right now"

Just a little update on my car's little lexicographical adventure.

$4700 to repair the damage (covered by the insurance company), and $3500 for repainting it properly (out of pocket for me) Grrrrrrrr.
