the mystery of code

the "well, it hasn't seemed to have made progress in the past hour" vs the second, older version of code running that has the whole "I thought this would error, and it didn't [but errored for someone else...]"

whelp, we'll find out in another few hours if it is making process (this will probably take ~30-40 hours to run, but right now just wanting to see if it does run--wanted to see if changes made fixed run problems. I can change it to be less rigorous and go to 15-20 hour runs to test stuff out)

EDIT- actually, I don't know how computers work or whatnot, but the executable running is just murdering my disk activity I think (disk i/o)

at the very least, it is slowing down and/or murdering my computer's responsiveness (though computer usage is normal)

I had a really long, really bad day. But they did push back an assignment due date, so there's that.

You know what I hate?

When people leave lab equipment coated in white powders of varying consistency and strange sticky gunk.

I'm pretty sure it's hazardous, but I have no clue if it actually is.

I sleep so late at night, around 4. And really I'm so angry at myself, I cannot hear the alarm and I suppose to be at school around 9.30. And now I'm here at home. I really feel screw. I really want to spend productive day but with joy, I wonder why the OT forum doesn't have a section for making essays and article also like history forum, so maybe I can recompense my guilty feeling with reading something good and a little bit dumb down (by language) plus reading a sensible discussion on the subject.

Why would The Daily Show (after reformatting their website coming back from a break at end of march) remove the extended web-exclusive episode segments from the "full episodes" and now force you to look individually for interview segments?

For reference, daily show usually has 3 segments in their show, and the last segment is a 5-8 minutes. Basically, 5-8 minute comedy segment, 5-8 minute comedy segment, and 5-8 minute interview, to add up to ~22 minutes. Often, since they want to go betond the allotted television time (30 minutes, from the show + ads), they have extended interviews that are put on their website. I.e. web exclusive content.

All their content is free on their website; the "full episode" used to just include the web exclusive content (so that it could be standard ~22 minute show, or anywhere up to like 37 minutes depending on how much more the interview went on for). Now, the "full episode" is just the tv version.

What's the point of splitting things up into different individual videos now. And, of course, no new advertisments or anything is generated since you can build in ad breaks to the video player whenever you want (as everyone knows since that is widely used; it's not like videos have to only have ads at the beginning of playing).

WTH, public transport is so ridicilous here.
Tomorrow I need to go to another town. The only human settlement between my "hometown" and the destination is one other small town.
And guess what, there's no direct connection.
Same applies to that bloody conference next week. Two towns further, and have to change from bus to train to get there.
People, seriously, who plans that stuff?

Where is "here" again?

I've been having knee pain for the past 3 weeks or so. Its not debilitating pain but it hurts almost all the time. The only time it feels good is for a few minutes after I wake up from a good night's sleep. But after a few minutes of moving around, pain. The worst part is that there isn't any obvious cause of the pain. I wasn't in an accident or anything like that. Just one day I started hurting.

:(

Oh, you're going a rural conference centre in the Netherlands? Yeah, I feel for you! :goodjob:

I have had experienced that a couple of times as well.

"A Tornado Warning remains in effect for northern St. Louis City. Northwestern St. Clair and southwestern Madison counties until 6:00 am CDT. At 5:28 am CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near St. Louis, and moving east at 35 mph."

The siren woke me up at 5:30 in the morning. Not fun.

The siren went off here (Belleville) just moments after my alarm, making this the first time in ages that anyone else has gotten up on time.

Are things okay where you are? The weatherman says that a tornado touched down in University City. I hope that wasn't close to you.

Rolla is getting it pretty bad as well. Unfortunately, I now have to walk to school in it.

Hey I went to school in Belleville!
last tuesday my chemical engineer lab group was supposed to do an experiment.

one person, "kelly", didn't show up.

hence "brad" and i had to do a three person lab with two people. it predictably when bad.

brad, kelly, and i have to write this lab report of sorts, due tuesday, 1pm (it is currently 1:01am tuesday, fwiw). kelly sends out an email on saturday to do stuff for the lab report.

nothing happens until sunday night. i text brad, who has been holding on to all the raw data since the lab, who replies back "i'll get to you all analyzed and stuff monday afternoon"

i think, "okay, that sounds fine." monday afternoon passes by, i have class with brad 3:30. he says he had something crop up that's due at midnight so we can't get it out until 7 or 8pm. okay.

7 or 8pm passes by and brad still hasn't sent me his data. i text him. he says that his assignment due at midnight is taking longer than normal. okay. i start and finish all my other homework.

at 11:30pm i send a text to brad asking "WTH man". he promptly sends me a garbled mess of a data sheet. i've been spending the last 1.5 hours trying to clean up the spreadsheet and make readable graphs and stuff. all the while i've been talking with kelly, who said "i don't know if i want to do this lab report since i don't know what's going on."

me: "this is exactly like the last lab we did."

"still i don't want to touch it."

"goddammit kelly we have to do it." (sent at 12:14am)

still no response at 1:06am.

my group is a flaming wreck of incompetence.

I've had really bad lab groups myself, but this chick takes the cake for having the gall to say something like this. WTH Yeah, murder her on the evaluations dude.
