So... it's not enough that I get emails from the Liberal party asking for money. Now, just because I've signed a few petitions that included Justin Trudeau as an addressee and registered to vote in the last Liberal leadership race (I did not vote for Trudeau), his people think I'm One Of Them and have added me to their calling list.

I just got a smarmy phone call asking for a $150 donation. I told them to remove my name from their calling list. They kept yapping, so I told them, "Get. Off. My. Phone. NOW." and hung up.

Can anybody say election in spring, rather than in October?

Yes but those are our communal bacteria, they are helpful and friendly.

Evil bacteria are pathogenic.

We think they're helpful and friendly, yes. But they're not really. They're just exploiting us. It's a symbiotic relationship, with one side wholly unaware of the other.

And yes, Mrs D'Ur, I sympathize. I've been caught out so many times: express any interest or make any kind of donation and they never, never leave you alone. It puts me right off doing anything at all. I had some dog's home charity ring me the other month telling me I'd made a donation 2 years ago and would I like to give them a monthly standing order. I couldn't for the life of me remember making any such donation. But they had the amount and my name and address, so I had to take their word for it before telling them to take me off their database, thank you very much.

Can't you utter the ultimate 'Murican battle cry at them?

Spring is in October.

Aha!!! 'Symbiotic' bacteria are not referred to as 'symbiotic' but rather commensal's. I made a typo calling them communal, similar words.

I just blew my car's engine. The mechanic that looked at it said that one of the coolant hoses cracked and he said that unfortunately in my model car that the only way you knew there was a problem was to be looking for it since there i no warning on the dashboard about it. Fortunately the car is under warrant, but that mean I will be without my car for some time.

I still can't figure out why hugs feel so weird and awkward.

Well, it depends. If they are insincere, they are awkward. When they are spontaneous and both parties embrace it, it's like the best thing ever.

The American Way
Ah. Well, some Canadians are into that kind of thing, but I don't think most of us are. There was a crazy situation a few decades back when our mayor and two aldermen were counter-suing each other, but none of it actually came to anything and the mayor was defeated in the next election.

Nowadays, we tend to either contact CBC's Go Public to publicly shame the business into making things right with customers, or find other ways to publicly shame the person/group that committed the act we are upset about.

In my case with this obsession Justin Trudeau has with never communicating with anyone unless he wants money, I'll just mention this to the NDP and Green parties and let them run with it as a point in their own favor that this isn't how they interact with the public. Or I'll mention it at an all-candidates' forum. And if the local Liberal candidate decides to phone or leave campaign literature in my mailbox, he/she will get an earful/email about it.

Most Murrricans aren't into it either, but hey, we have companies like Comcast. You think they care about anything other than money? Suing them is probably then only way to make them give a crap, and since they know this, they spend a lot of effort making it extremely difficult to do so successfully.

Our male cat has herpes. He most probably got it while he was at the RSPCA before we got him. The good thing is that we can't get it off him but treating him is via some pills and cats don't like thing being put in their mouth so it will be a struggle at time to get him to take his medicine, but thankfully it is treatable.

Is Herpes for cats a serious illness?
(just curious)

I still can't figure out why hugs feel so weird and awkward.

Needs a field study to find out why, I'd say :p.

Still no real idea about the weekend :/.
Okay, yeah, probably going out today, and a gathering with friends tomorrow, but that's not exactly what I was looking for :/.
