Cant drink alcohol because prescription meds. I did try a few times though, the result is always bad.

I was thirsty and I finished off my cherry cola before my Pizza. Now I need to drink 7 up with the rest of the pizza. Well I do like 7 up, but the pizzas came with the cola so they were meant to be had together!

Damn you OCD!

An acquaintance of mine had OCD. This manifested in a couple of curious, to me, ways.

1. When vacuuming a room he was careful to make sure that the pile of the carpet was neatly aligned.
2. He always ate a Marks and Spencer sandwich at 5 minutes past 9 every evening.

OCD can be a very serious disorder. People being mildly obsessive about something is not the same thing at all.

Oh, he had it alright. Those weren't the only symptoms. Just the ones that "amused" me the most. Why 5 past 9, for goodness sake?

My thinking process when it come to the age of A random person on CFC whose age I do not know:

1. Assume the person is a few years older than me if they have not implied in some way they are in school.
2. If implied to be in school, and seem more mature than my brother, who's 18 atm, assume they are in college and are at least a year older than my brother.
3. If implied to be in school, and seem as mature as or less mature than my brother, assume they are in high school, ie a few years younger than him.
4. If implied to be in school, but are extremely immature and act like an Internet teenagerr, assume they are in middle school.
5. Exception made for anybody who is clearly Eastern European or a Mod, if so, assume they are at least 30.
Wouldn't it just be easier to look up the person's profile?

BTW, there is an older generation here. Some members here are old enough to be other members' grandparents.

Rant: Been feeling just awful for the last week or two. I've some underlying health issues behind this (long story..) but overall I guess things have been going better lately. But this week has just been a big slap in the face. Feeling absolutely rubbish, no appetite, no energy. And can't do anything fun like skiing or help train the horses. Here's hoping for a turn of events in the near future.

Oh yes, sorry. That was aimed at Bhavv, not you.

Please, I laugh at cancer and aids. The more serious and threatening, the funnier the disease.

Disease is merely nature's vengeance against overpopulation. However us abominations of humankind like to play god and prevent nature from controlling our spread across this world. We are in fact to the Earth what cancer is to our bodies!

I'm not sure that's true.

I'd say starvation is nature's vengeance against overpopulation. (If "vengeance" is quite the right word. I'm not sure it is.)

Disease is more complicated. If it weren't for the infection mechanism of bacteria invading nuclei for instance, would we have mitochondria?

(You'll know the answer to that. Being a micro-biologist and everything.)

Aha, but mitochondria originating from bacteria, while a very logical theory, is still unprovable!

That was one of my favorite topics, though stem cells and growing organs was by far the best.

OK. I'm sure you're right.

But what about the number of bacteria in and on the human body? Don't they outnumber our own cells?

And where would our guts be without bacteria?

Bacterial cells in the human body outnumber human cells by 10 fold

...er...now I'm trying to follow your train of thought to argue anything, but I don't see how this is related to anything before .

I wish I was making it up.

...um...lol.
Another entry in the section "random crap I know".

Same difference. A month isn't really that long relationship-wise. Isn't awkward unless you choose to make it awkward.

I'd avoid it. Don't take a dump where you know you'll eat for a foreseeable future.

My stance is totally the second, but right now I'm more on the "screw it, I'll do it" side.
And tomorrow I'll again be mulling about it.

Life is rather horrible and cruel and there is nothing I can do about it.

What happened?

-> would've failed :p.

Wouldn't it just be easier to look up the person's profile?

People should more consider that your date of birth belongs to your personally identifiable information, and should therefore not be given out easily.
-> it's not always there.

eventually, but that is easier said than done

actually, the core of my complaint isn't really the age thing. Age itself is not inherently a problem. It is more that it feels nothing gets done because everybody else gets put on 10 tasks to work part-time on rather than get people to actually work on 2 or 3 tasks and get them done.

The age of people is a just a proxy for what I would characterize as mismanagement. But I guess the idea seems to be that since people are older, they should be able to handle more tasks. That is true, but there is a limit.....what is happening to me certainly feels like no one is being productive (I have no one to work with, and people above me always are in a state of "let me catch up on this" when I try to move forward).

Being overworked is definitely also a reason to change your workplace.

Don't see how age relates to that though.
(unless the HR department is also overworked and just can't find new people)

Wouldn't it just be easier to look up the person's profile?

That's true, but I tend to forget about that. :D

(And not everyone puts up all their personal information too, now that I think about it.)

BTW, there is an older generation here. Some members here are old enough to be other members' grandparents.

Oh yeah, that's true. The senior citizens of CFC, I suppose; or, well, as close to it as we can get.

I'm not sure that's true.

I'd say starvation is nature's vengeance against overpopulation. (If "vengeance" is quite the right word. I'm not sure it is.)

I wouldn't call it vengeance, and I'd say disease plays a major part. Long before overpopulation causes outright starvation it causes malnutrition. Limited malnutrition turns otherwise 'routine' diseases into significant killers. This would limit the overpopulation by removing the least productive (thus most undernourished) before starvation damages the general population.

OK. I'm sure you're right.

But what about the number of bacteria in and on the human body? Don't they outnumber our own cells?

And where would our guts be without bacteria?

Yes but those are our communal bacteria, they are helpful and friendly.

Evil bacteria are pathogenic.
