Random Rants LX: I wish to register a complaint

Just read World War Z. I wanted to like this book so much, but it annoyed the crap out of me when it became apparent Max Brooks lacks even a basic understanding of how the military operates. I know one should go into anything zombie related with a healthy suspension of disbelief, but the sheer idiocy of Brooks' writing when it came to the military parts of the book completely ruined the setting and atmosphere of the book and really prevented me from getting into the narrative.

This is definitely one instance where I will say the movie was much better and much more entertaining than the book. Something one does not get to say very often in their lifetime.

Avadon 1 + 2, and Avernum 1 + 2 remakes are all the latest and greatest up to date CRPGs, made by a single developer.

Go buy.

Avernum 2 is a remake of what is considered to be the best game in the series (Originally Exile 2: Crystal Souls, then Avernum 2, now Avernum 2: Crystal souls).

Basically the exact same game / story redone 3 times over for newer engines and latest OS compatibility.

And now its in shiny, but still simple looking HD graphics!

Some pointers:

- 1 point in priest spells on all chars for heal + curing.
- 1 melee tank, and 3 min max DPSers that die in 1-2 hits + spam reloads (SEND IN THE TANK!) Or play on casual.
- Though theres 3 races, the non human ones suck.

I also just restarted the game after realizing the importance of keeping my main DPS base skill maxed on each char (E.G. Melee weps on tank, Bows on archer, Mage + Priest on the last two), as all other (and superior) skills above the first tier max out at 10 ranks, so not maxing the base skill means losing much eventual DPS.

Its epic hard to build characters without the character editor to respec, i.e. cheat mode.

Also beware, the game contains nudity ...

I'm afraid I can't lube my way out of this one, my friend. The angle my hip joint is at while riding is for some reason triggering some real sciatica painage on my right side. Much annoying.
