Got bit by a dog today.

Did they put the dog down for that?

No. I don't think they'd do that if the dog doesn't have a history of biting people.

Any idea why it bit?

I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It didn't give me any warning. No growls or barks.

Seems like these past few weeks I've been in a period when lots of things, random things, even, will trigger my feelings of depression. Trying to stay strong, I guess.

Also, there seems to be quite a number of ants running around in my room.

Try painting tiny numbers on those ants.

So you can keep track of which one is which.

It's surprising how little ants actually do. If you observe one closely, you'll see that it runs around for a short time and then does nothing.

But because they all look alike everyone thinks that ants all run round like crazy all the time.

In the end, though, the only, and final, solution is ant powder. I've tried negotiation, but it doesn't work with ants. They don't even seem to register my existence.

Also, what colour are these ants? Brown are relatively peaceful. Black are relatively aggressive.

That's a nasty bite! Have you been to the doctor to get your rabies shots yet? Send the bill to the owner if you can.

Without knowing the full circumstances of the bite - I would have to say the dog should be put down. I don't know what the law specifies here though.

It may seem cruel for me to say a dog should be put down for a single bite but this is how we make better dogs. Even if it has been neutered and can't breed, it should still be put down on principle. I do allow for exceptions however. For instance, if you were in the dog's territory (i.e. its house or its yard) then it may warrant being spared as this is a valid function that we keep dogs for - to protect our turf. Even then, I'd have to know all the details to make a final judgement. But of course it's not up to me to decide!

Rant:

My dog had surgery today for bladder stones this morning. She's old enough where it's a risk to have any surgery but unfortunately, veterinarians do not have the kinds of advanced tools that human doctors have. This could easily have been done laparoscopically or with ultra-sound to break up the stones but vets don't have those kinds of tools as a general rule. Which really sucks. The surgery did go well, fortunately.

A few years ago we also had a tumor removed from her surgically. It turns out that it wasn't cancerous and would have been fine to leave it. But the vet had no tools to check the tumor without first lopping it off even though fine-needle aspiration is widely used in human medicine to avoid this kind of invasive surgery. So she had this invasive operation to remove a completely harmless growth just to see if it was harmful. It's really awful but I love my dogs and I do everything I can to make sure they are comfortable and healthy.

Set the bloody things on fire. Wait, no, they're in the house and 'Muricans build houses out of wood for some reason. Take a shoe and stamp the things to death.

Mother bought some super quality massive seeded grapes with unbelievably perfect freshness and crisp but not too sweet texture.

She won't let me eat them all because she also wants some. I want more!!!

Seedless grapes suck in comparison, too sickly sweet and soft.

They look dark but all they do, as you say, is scurry around in circles. To be honest they don't really bother me that much, they're more just silly little things than anything, I am more worried about possibly accidentally hurting some of them. Oh well.

Also my room is still the stuffiest in the house. :|

My room is always the stuffiest because of my PC.

Well, it seems that the sock-eating monster is at it again… I am experiencing a weird case of having half-pairs of socks. :scan:

Stupid frigging typical mother!!!

Yesterday - 'DONT EAT ALL THE GRAPES' ...

Today - 'Why didn't you eat the grapes? Eat them now!'

I swear she honestly must have Alzheimer's disease, she always does this.

So recently 3 decided to terminate all their one plan account holder's which used to give full unlimited tethering / modem use.

Now I only 8 Gb for use on the PC, unlimited on he phone. But since I got a jerb, I decided to purchase a mobile broadband contract (regular landline broadband is crap where I live and never works),

The best offer I could find per Gb between either 3 or EE was £22 pm for 20 Gb on three.

So I ordered that yesterday ... then after ordering it opened up an existing customer deals page, where I could get the same thing for £19 pm instead!

So then today I called to cancel the original order and replace it on the existing customer offer.

Credit check failed. FML. They told me though its simply because the original cancellation hadnt gone through, and it wont be cancelled until tomorrow, but then after its cancelled I can ring them and get it for £19 pm based on having passed the initial credit check.

I. NEED. MOAR. INTERNET!!!!

The solution to that is to have all of your socks be the same. So that way you can always make pairs of the remainders. :scan:

Best thing I ever did was throw away my old socks and buy all identical new pairs.

Well, okay, maybe not the best thing, but it's up there.

The electricity was better for awhile but now it's going out all the time again. It's worse than before. We have these really strong winds and dust storms sometimes and it's like that through the whole city. On Friday night the wind was howling and I expected to see Margaret Hamilton circling around my house on a broom.

Today it was hot, even in October, and without any AC or anything it was irritating. At least when I went to the bar they have one of those cheap ACs with a big tube looks like a silver anaconda kind of. It works on the generator.

Kind of a serious rant here:

I'm getting sick and tired of hearing this stupid statistic being thrown around that gun violence kills more people in the US than terrorism. There are several things wrong with this comparison. First, of course gun violence is going kill more people than terrorism since gun violence is usually a part of most serious criminal activity, while there are hardly any terrorist attacks carried out in the entire world, let alone a stable western nation like the US. So comparing everyday gun violence to terrorism is an apples and oranges comparison that doesn't make any sense to anyone but the lunatic gun grabbing extremists. Second, gun violence and terrorism are not mutually exclusive stats, as those who tout this ridiculous stat like to imply. Gun violence and terrorism stats have an extremely large area of overlap. In fact, I would say that every mass shooting that takes place should be considered an act of terrorism. I mean, what else can they be classified as? This is especially true, since most mass shooters seem to believe they are furthering their own social or political agenda by carrying out such actions. Not to mention, you don't have to be an actual member of a recognized terrorist organization to commit an act of terrorism. Third, what is the point people are trying to make by touting such a stupid statistic? Gun violence also kills more people than plane crashes, but you don't hear anybody saying anything about that.

So basically, the argument that more people are killed by gun violence than terrorism is an idiotic logical fallacy being perpetuated by idiotic anti-gun nuts and being swallowed up by an ignorant, poorly educated populace that is demonstrating a clear lack of critical thinking ability by buying into such nonsense.
