What font are you using, Dachs? Here it doesn't look weird at all. There's also ẘ and ẙ, which do look weird.

Let's see, I have both these characters: º and °
º is right to the left of my 1 key.
° is Alt + Ctrl + the key one to the right from P. It is a combinign character with a, to form å. :)
left of 1 is |
alt+ctrl+å does nothing
I just use alt-134 for å. Gå på!

EDIT: holy crap italicized å looks so weird

alt-[number] does nothing for me

to make å I press the å-key

I dunno how long it takes to become a good writer but after spending almost my entire life doing it and making no headway or significant improvement, I'm starting to get discouraged. Between the feedback I get from critique sites, and the rote replies I get when attempting publication, I'm not even close to being good enough and doubt I ever will be.

I have a legal issue over my residence permit because I left my former employer to go to my new job and didn't get permission for that and my old job complained about me. I had to go to the police and they were going to put me in jail but I paid bail. It looks like it will be resolved soon but it cost me a lot of money and they still have my passport confiscated until I get this resolved.

Funny thing is, the policeman who was interrogating me, I saw when he was leaving and had changed into his street clothes he had a tshirt that said "who wants a blow job?" I guess he didn't know what it means. My lawyer pointed it out and I was really nervous so at that point someone could have walked by naked playing a ukelele and I wouldn't have paid any mind but then I saw the tshirt I was thinking wow.

Decorative foreign language texts ftw!

Quitting smoking sucks.

Oh man that sucks :(

You are good only when you feel like you are good. It's all relative. Learning how to write a bestseller type of book and actually selling it for thousands of copies doesn't make you a good writer, it just makes you popular and (in case of extreme cases) well off.

You can study(analyze) classics like Charles Dickens, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Balzac etc. to understand what made storytelling compelling for them.

For example, Goethe's Faust isn't anything more than a compilation of folk tales, but he synthesized them and added more layers to the basic plot so masterfully that the work is regarded as his masterpiece.

Tl;dr

Read a lot, analyze, find your own genre and style which you like. Enjoy the writing process, it is no different than to make a painting.

Good luck NovaKart.

What did you press to get that

also do you use linux

Yeah, Linux, but is independent of that, because the ° is on the default German keyboard layout (checked, is not on the US keyboard layout, was therefore confused at first).
Google tells me that alt + 248 does the job, or alt 0176, but both doen't seem to work on here for me (no idea if that's Linux or the browser).

This symbol seems to be complicated ^^ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degree_symbol#Keyboard_entry .

I didn't smoke but I was a nicotine fiend and I still crave it at nights. Still, seems I'm able to keep away. Which is nice.

My poems seem to make less and less sense each day. Mind you, they all make perfect sense, it's just how I manage to completely break down everything into seemingly incoherent lines. It's not as much a rant as a musing.

Publication standards mean that 50 Shades of Grey is a moneymaker literary masterpiece.

What were you addicted to then? Second-hand smoke?

Yeah, I know, I know, but still, I would like to be published in some fashion at some point in time. And I don't feel like I am that much closer than I was 10 years ago.

It appears to be illegal in Norway. :nono:
Hmm, pretty sure neither are illegal in Norway. You can't buy e-cig juice containing nicotine here but you can legally order it from other European countries.

Ah, the joys of living in a non-anglophone country: all the specific books you just can't find in libraries. If only I was staying in Australia for a few more days...
