love ya too dave hope ya holding up alright

okay so

- my campus is shut down and my course has been moved online. The course I quit my full-time job to study (I'm still working at said job part-time and I believe we are classified as essential so at least I still have that I guess)
- my sister is forced to move into my apartment for reasons, I wouldn't mind except my apartment is already tiny, barely enough for me and my partner
- the holiday & convention that I've been looking forward to attend for almost a year is cancelled
- my citizenship ceremony that I've waited almost two years for is also cancelled
- plans to visit my parents in Thailand at the end of the year looking less and less likely
- my mental health is terrible and it makes me fall behind in my studies and my jobs and my side projects which makes me feel worse which makes me fall behind...
- to fix that I'm trying a new medication which makes me gain weight (gained 3kg just in the last week after having lost 8kg over 6 months) and makes me sleepy and groggy all day
- we have a terrible government and I'm super worried about what the future holds once we gets through this whole mess

I was already juggling a career change + moving house + relationship, I don't need to deal with an apocalypse too, go away, shoo
Hey!

I know saying "Everything is gonna be alright" isnt very helpful, but you've made it this far. You'll get through this apocalypse thing like we all will. More or less mauled, more or less dazed, but alive and more or less well. ;)

I didn't know CFC was a safe space for war criminals. Mods, why are you sleeping on the job?!
Whut?

This day is garbage.
Agreed. Let's send it back and get a new one.

We had snow here yesterday. It hasn't melted yet, and the sky is grey. Someone brought up vitamin D and SAD on CBC this morning, and they have a point. Don't neglect this - even if you can't go anywhere, just standing in the sunlight will help.

I dislike hash browns.

Hash browns are wonderful. Potato in any form is delicious.

By far one of the worst forms of potato.

I actually couldn't think of an argument. I think hash browns are great, but I can't think of any way to eat potatoes that I don't like just as well, so I guess "worst form" does apply...but "delicious in any form" says the same thing, better.

I don't know why anyone would opt for hash browns when any diner can make you home fries instead.

Maybe the diners are closed

Variety. I make home fries myself, but hash browns take a big flat grill to come out really good.

I suppose it's possible that I've never had any that were properly prepared, since I agree with Aimee and Synsensa.

I used to have the same opinion of spinach, until my dad started working odd jobs for one of the local Greek restaurants and part of his payment was in food. I discovered that spinach is actually really good, and it was just my grandmother's talent for ruining every vegetable she tried to cook that made me think it was horrible.

Restaurant food here is only available by delivery, drive-through window, or pick-up. That's not much of an inconvenience for me since the only time I ever went to a sit-down place was McDonalds, anyway, and the local Tim Hortons is a mall kiosk with no seating. Friday night Downton Abbey + pizza is still part of my weekly routine, but now they have online payment in advance so I don't have to risk touching the debit machine.
