So at this point it is pretty much guaranteed that Anthem is going to be another monumental failure for Bioware. And if that proves true, this failure could be the final blow that destroys Bioware for good.
For those who don't know: Anthem, a game which has been in development since 2012, was supposed to be released this year. The game has now been pushed back to 2019 as Bioware continues to hemorrhage its top talent that has been working on the game. In the last year, Bioware has lost 4 senior staff that were working on Anthem, with two of those departures coming in the last week. While EA and Bioware claim those departures had nothing to do with the delay in the game's release, the timing of the announcement would seem to indicate otherwise.
There are also anonymous sources from within Bioware that claim the game was internally reviewed and that review basically described it as a trainwreck. Those anonymous sources also said there is an atmosphere of fear at Bioware Edmonton. Fear that if Anthem fails, EA will shut them down like they shut down Visceral and Bioware Montreal.
It's just so sad to see one of the most beloved video game development studios out there fall so far from grace. Not only is Bioware dying, but they are dying in just about the ugliest way a game development studio can die.
