Due to my selfishness in not taking the time to go Christmas shopping I must now front up with cash. Now under any other circumstances, cash is considered at minimum equal if not superior to any good or service of a similar value. However, as a Christmas present substitute there is an unwritten rule that if a $50 gift was the expectation, $100 cash would be the substitute. This will be a costly exercise.
