Random Rants XLVII: I don't like food anymore!

I've only myself to blame, of course, but it was downright embarrassing when I went to visit a friend of mine in Berlin last year and he and his friends over there were, without exception, at least trilingual and then there was me with only "Sprechen Sie Englisch?" and "Nein, ich bin kein Arzt" firmly committed to memory. I didn't even need the latter.

Why on earth did you commit "No, I am not a doctor" to memory?

After a couple of weeks on Rosetta Stone it was the only phrase that reliably stuck, probably due to how humourous I found it that it was considered one of the first phrases I should learn...

EDIT: it also taught me "Die Sonne ist Gelb" which, I suppose I could have used if it wasn't, you know, so bleeding obvious

The first German phrase that always springs to my mind is: "Wo ist die nächste Dom, bitte?"

And just as useless. :)

What do you call a person who speaks three languages?

A trilinguist.

What do you call a person who speaks two languages?

A bilinguist.

What do you call a person who speaks only one language?

An American.

My rant of the day: this joke sucks.

 It's that huge lifestyle change they warned him about!

Quick! Someone kidnap him and put him into re-education to get him back in the indoors video gamer lifestyle! Stat!

I knew that moderating hurts a poster's heart.

Had a nice bike trip yesterday, but hurt my butt twice on the saddle, and it's still hurting...*argh*.

You're not supposed to be sitting while you go over rough terrain!

It's his first time outside, since he's so determined to be out there (he even got a job!!!!!) then let's cut him some slack, shall we?

I wished that would work ^^.
I haven't played video games for roughly a half year now, haven't watched TV for myself a longer time, and not read a book for years. I don't have the motivation or patience to do it, because it doesn't fascinate me anymore.
I wished it would, because weekends alone can be very boring if that all doesn't do it anymore.
(and I actually plan to vanish here, but then I really have nothing to kill time on my own)

:p
No, I actually slipped while getting on it once, and another time I got into the side of the road and couldn't really stay on it...so...I'm not *totally* dumb ;).

The start of cycling after a longish break is never a*** friendly but you could try roller skating (with sticks is preferable & easier) - very body friendly sport as long as one stays on two feet though according to Jimmy Carr the hardest part of roller skating is telling your parents that you're gay.
The rant part - there's still &%&%t"¤ sand on tracks after winter which doesn't much affect cycling but makes roller skating/skiing occasionally slippery.

The dream is over and what a harsh awakening.

It's 4.15am. Getting ready for a 5.50am flight from Perth to Sydney....5 hours.

Then straight to work after 3 weeks off. Brutal dude

3 weeks of holidays? I pity you :D.

The problem is not my endurance, I already cycle 16 km every day. But like said, I slipped twice and hit my tailbone.
And I can't rollerskate  (or anything related). Might try to learn it this year though.

Nah, everyone can rollerskate and those who have't tried it have never failed in it. Roller skiing is a bit trickier and requires smoother ground. Good luck with your forthcoming endeavours.

Roller blading is really fun, I haven't done any for years though
