I think the uni application and selection system is deliberately made confusing and stressful. One of my friend (an aspiring engineer) gets excellent marks but failed to read the fine print about having to complete math methods before applying for the course (he thought he would be able to do a uni course in the first year to make up for it) and only now told he has to go through the TAFE system for 1-2 years before they will even consider accepting him into Uni.

For law in Victoria you kneed an ENTER score of around 98, which in all likelihood I won't get. I need around 95 for medicine (plus pass a 45 minute interview for most unis), and I doubt whether I can get it (I got B+ for my chemistry mid-year results, so that's not a good sign). I'm thinking of selecting one of the engineering courses (achievable ENTER scores, shorter courses than medicine, cheaper, pretty good employment rate and income can be comparable to doctors) but I'm still not sure whether I really want to go down that path.

If you don't know what you want to do, pick the most challenging thing that interests you and change courses if/when you decide you want to do something else.

Alot of MSN.com's stories are just shameless promoting of tthe new bing.com search engine. For instance, some stories are simply links to bing.com, without making it clear the it is simply a link to a search engine. I change my start up site to yahoo, because i couldn't stand it anymore. I always found the site to be good prior to the introduction of bing too. I mean when was the last time a yahoo story was just the yahoo search engine.

Alot of MSN.com's stories are just shameless promoting of the new bing.com search engine. By just having a story link to bing with that searched. And because of it they re no longer my start up page. It is a shame to since I really liked the site. I mean when was the last time a yahoo story was just the yahoo search engine.

Their story on right/left handed people and how it affects their views on directions and values was interesting. Overall though, I tend to agree with you.
