Random Raves 11: It's getting better all the tiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!

...now if only I was openly gay and not with anybody...

Okay, the first part I get, but the second? You lament the fact that you are in a relationship and thus cannot attempt to start a relationship with someone?

Okay, okay, maybe it's not a relationship as such that you want . . .

I don't think AP courses are offered here.

It sounds stupid though. What about the students whose families can't afford to pay 80-90$ for an AP course? Smart, talented and hard-working students who would greatly benefit from it? Students who one could argue would contribute more to society than their slightly worse but richer counter-parts? What happened to meritocracy?

Rave: I will be depositing 420 or so dollars in my stock account today, meaning I will be able to take advantage of the recent stock market CHAOS.

What do you plan to study?

Business and politics. :)

I imagine I need a specific career to try 8 years though.

Business related probably.

Correct! Family tradition! :D

 You misunderstand. ;)

What I meant was, I had friends and family with me at the swimming place, so I couldn't oogle as much as I wanted to.

I ordered the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen from the library and they came in today. My friend is lending me V for Vendetta tomorrow and I've still got the first two Dresden Files to read.

Went to see Slayer last night :D Arrived in London at 5:50 by 6 had the first round in :d but the best was seasons in the abyss/war ensemble/angel of death - blew me away...

The quizbowl team of my former high school is going to kick ass at a national tournament this weekend, I know it.

See, in hyper-capitalist idiocracies like the US and Australia, the talented and hard-working people with no money get jack, slightly richer counterparts get a little more than jack but not much, and the small group at the top owns everything and everybody secretly.

:p

So is it 80-90$ bucks for each course or is it for the whole thing? How many courses does the average Joe take?

Not for the course, just the test. How many AP Tests someone takes over the course of 4 years in high school is entirely up to them and how many there are available.

Aha. So if I have 3 AP courses, I have to dish out 270 $ at the end of each semester?

At around May when the test is, not at the end of each semester. But yes.

You're not required to take the test, even if you take the course.

And you pay for college, why is it ridiculous to pay for a college course in high school?

Okay.

Among your friends, what's the average amount of AP courses?

Over the course of four years, around 3 or 4.

Hm, okay.

Higher education that's not free is ridiculous in the first place.

Over the course of four years, around 3 or 4.

So 3-4 courses constantly over 4 years? That's $1080-$1440 for tests?

What happens if you don't take the test? Will you be forced to redo the course in college?

Higher Education is Soshulist and Evil, remember?
