Had an absolutely amazing time at the school concert yesterday! Total of 5 performances, including this one, a cover of "Smooth" by Santana and Rob Thomas done by my music class (linked below). Every single one was absolutely amazing, and I have to say it's the best I've ever done both with singing and playing saxophone. Also got to hang out with the girl I'm going to prom with, which was definitely an added bonus

Rave: My professor was right. Getting things done early is nice, but doors open to those who wait.

Apparently my problem roommate (the one who was going to stay over the summer) is getting kicked out. Therefore, not only is he gone, but, if I stay in Iowa City I get the whole apartment to myself! Woohoo! I can study in peace, sleep in peace, cook in peace, play games in peace, and live at peace.

Not only that, but I can participate in my professor's project! Double woohoo! And have access to the library here on campus for all those books my Japanese history professor recommended, triple woohoo!

I'm going to decide whether or not I stay later today and tomorrow, but things are looking up!

I was very surprised to find the video doesn't contain much, if any, anti-immigrant rhetoric.

And immigrants really do need to learn the language of their host country. It's a bit of a no-brainer really.

His whole deal is the "proper integration" of immigrants. So as a presumably integrated son of Silesian immigrants it makes sense.

Buschkowsky's mother was a Silesian Pole but I couldn't find info where did his father come from (and he has a surname after his father, I guess).

I'm excited that my friend who I have not seen in 13 years from Hong Kong is moving to Seattle! I honestly thought I'd never see her again but she Facebooked me last year letting me know her plans.

I even talked with a friend who was in her class back in Hong Kong and he was shocked to hear what I told him she's now married and pregnant, especially considering she was very much a free spirit when we both knew her.
