While waiting for Godot, Vladimir and Estragon, by all accounts two useless bums (but Estragon also suffers from diminished memory), come across two other weird individuals, Pozzo and his slave, Lucky.
In the end, the general message appears to be that humans are too insignificant to expect even something as simple as continuity in basic tasks or conditions. That concerns the entire tetrad, but Lucky very likely is a symbol for Pozzo's mind in the first place.
Maybe this isn't entirely unrelated to the tendency to view "evil", devils etc about. At least such would be agents within a system and therefore enjoying what continuity there is. That even their enemies'd be at least equally blessed, is another animistic element.

A moment ago, 8 or 9 people on big, American motorcycles went thundering past the building where I work. The noise was literally rattling the windows. I went to the window and looked up into the sky, because we're underneath a military flight path and occasionally a helicopter goes overhead.
