Can I -or anyone else- start one of a pair of threads in answer to another one? For example, someone starts a serious though severly misinformed discussion on something that I happen to know a lot about and I start another one on the same topic but is also RD?

I'm thinking that two RD threads on the same topic should be merged, just as two non RD threads on the same subject would be.

And so if I answered in parody/sarcasm mode as a non-RD thread it wouldn't be merged… Maybe the labels should be switched around?

The same. If you have a pair of threads and one gets derailes while the other one grows the beard (TVTropes to the rescue!) then it's easier to switch the labels.

Nah, it's always useful so that people can ask the questions and also mods update the rulings. Or else we could have a -separate- FAQ thread.

No, no, my idea for Saffron Triangles for Serial Threads like the Random RANTS/Raves, Cooking threads, Ask A… etc. etc.

Any particular reason for that color? Does it show up well on all the various skins we use here? I kinda doubt it would...

Silver. Mind you, that wouldn't necessarily be any better.

Seafoam... nah, wouldn't show up very well on the Turnip Green skin.

Sxxx Triangle= Serial Thread It'd look good on most surfaces except, yes, probably the Turnip Green.
