[R&F] Rise and Fall Screenshot discussion

Any thoughts about the pink lake in the Cree First Look video?

There is apparently a Pink Lake in Australia. Pretty interesting how the algae interacts with the salt.

Another lake in Australia, Lake Hillier, is pink. It has salt content similar to the Dead Sea and looks the most pink, IMHO.

Lake Retba in Senegal also has the same phenomena.

So, we now have massive speculation that the Cree FL video may be full of new natural wonders, yet we still have no clue on what the red forest is? Good grief!

Figured this was an appropriate place. Didn’t want to wade through a dozen pages to find it. :p

I also don't want to wade through a dozen pages to transcribe all the suggestions. :D

Isn't that just the dead sea?

It might be. I don’t remember it being quite so pink, though.

Could be wrong, of course.

It is the evening sun reflecting in it

No. Here is the pink lake:

And here is the Dead Sea

The shapes are different. The pink one is notably narrower at one end, and the Dead Sea has a little peninsula at the west end.

Lake Natron in Tanzania is a well-known alkalaine ("pink") lake. Very famous for its pink flamingos!

Lake Retba in Senegal is also a possibility.

One would think that they would want to spread out the natural wonders. They really are trying to focus on a decently balanced TSL map. Since a West African Civ for Civ VI is almost a given, considering they had Mali and Songhai before, they’d probably want a natural wonder in the area. So Lake Retba in modern day Senegal makes sense.

Hoping for Lake Baikal for the Mongolia region. :)

The tile yields of the pink lake: 2 culture, 2 gold, 1 production.

The production and gold would make sense for Lake Retba. People mine salt from the bottom of the lake.

http://traveleering.com/10-best-pink-lakes-world/ has 10 pink lakes in it; none of these match the shape of our Civ6 natural wonder though.

It's odd; when you search for Lake Retba you see a different lake (or what looks like a different lake to me), but sometimes you see this one.

I took a screen shot of Lac Rose (Lake Retba, Senegal) and flipped it upside down; it kind of fits the shape.

There is a HS on each side which makes it definitely a Natural Wonder. And as @Eagle Pursuit said it, the shapes are different, plus the yield differences. It’s only a matter of seeing if there are shape similarities with any of the guesses posted before. It’s looking pink cool though!
