Role Play Challenge: "Will the Real Suryavarman Please Stand Up?"

I'm curious as to how you got the Great General and Great Person bars alongside the research bar. Is that a mod, or an in-game option?

It's the BUG mod. It doe snot affect gameplay except to make things a little more organized to see. Helps alot in presenting the RPCs to the audience.

I'm loving the idea for this RPC.

One thing to bear in mind on a fantasy realm map is that distance maintenance on cities is much higher due to the x and y wrapping.

The RB24 Big Brother SG was played on one and this post from T-hawk explains things much better than I can. The upshot is that you'll want to get CoL earlier than on a normal map as courthouses will save you a lot more cash.

Thanks for that. I'll have to check this mod out. :)

Does anyone know how the program AI's index the other AIs in the code? I'm assuming it's by some means different than name, or the program would malfunction when all the leaders had the same name, everyone hopelessly diplomatically confused.

Every player (and every team) has a unique ID number. This ID number is how everyone is always initially referenced. For example in this game,
Spoiler :
MadScientistSury is ID 0, and Green/White Sury is ID 4.
Barbarians are always the last ID num, which is 18 in the stock DLL. Also, in order to support the Random Personalities option, two different functions are used to access characteristics depending on if you are trying to reference something about their outward appearance or their internal personality which is why F4 shows everybody as favoring OR; it's basing that off their "claimed" personality rather than their actual.

OK, adopt a religion and trade with sury, see if you can bribe sury into going to war with sury. Sury has a couple techs he might trade if you bulb something yummy. See if sury will trade alphabet to you. perhaps you can bribe sury to stop trading with sury then :backstab: sury. Seems pretty clear cut to me.

I played this game too for a bit, and the sloooow speed was killing me more than the chaos.
There's a rather nice city to be founded 2W of the gems to your south, it has pigs & gems & lake & riverside grassland, pretty decent for a fantasy map.

Use tech from Sury to trade to Sury for that special tech that Sury wants so he can Backstab Sury while he invades Sury.

:)

"Will the Real Suryavarman Stand Up?": Part III

We are having a system to work through this insanity. We basically pay little attention to the land, built Military, trade techs, and go from there!!!!

Techpath, as with any game at this time: Currency/Construction/CoL/working on MC

Soon into the round we pop our first GP

SuryC0000.jpg

OK, what to do with him?????? We ended up settling him and directed all the eps to Orange Sury who is to our west (I think) and has the best power rating and doing well in tech.

SuryC0001.jpg

By the way, I am partly colorblind making this game even more difficult. However, I know Orange and I know where the biggest threat is.

We settled another city to claim the tundra Pig, Tundra stone, and normal grassland gems!

SuryC0002.jpg

We preceeeded to build military. Then the fun started

Sury demands.

SuryC0003.jpg

well there are only 2 and one wioll be dead soon, so we tell him to stick it.

The another Jewish Sury (there are only 2) demands this

SuryC0004.jpg

Hah, OK I know where I stand. I tell him to stick it! There I have ticked off the two Jewish Surys. In the meantime, those Buddhist Sury's are good friends. I noticed they all have between 5 and 7 diplo modifiers for religion so they are fairly zealotish. However, only 1 (Orange Sury) seams agressive as he has the highest pwoer numbers and has "We Have Enough On Our Hands!"

After teching Currency we start trading it away to Sury

SuryC0005.jpg

Sury

SuryC0006.jpg

And Sury

SuryC0007.jpg

Which opens up catapults to attack Sury with!

We got that random event about opening opur food supplies for +3 diplo points which we agreed to. Unfortunately it helped the Sury we were planning to attack, Oh well!

We line up our troops and decide to get rid of one of these Sury's

SuryC0009.jpg

Unfortunately the other Jewish Sury declares on us

SuryC0010.jpg

we never saw any of these Sury's troops (At least I don't think I killed any of them, but I could be wrong).

So very quickly we toppled Wimp Sury's three lone cities

SuryC0011.jpg

SuryC0012.jpg

But before we captured the last one, Orange Sury attacks the other Jewish Sury which eventually brings Jewish Sury #2 to the negotiation table.

SuryC0013.jpg

As we approach the last Wimp Sury city (who tried to appease us by converting to Buddhism).

SuryC0014.jpg

And

SuryC0015.jpg

One less Suryavarman II Clone in the world.

We saved here. Some views of our lands

Espionage

SuryC0017.jpg

Time to start Spying on Orange Sury.

And time to take a break from warring to rebuilt a little.

SuryC0018.jpg

Tech

SuryC0019.jpg

Noone has MC yet, so perhaps machinery for a crossbow/maceman rush of another Sury.

And a view of our lands.

SuryC0020.jpg

Now I did try and scout out some lands. Just confused me and when I went due north and kept coming up from the south I decided to stop doing it, just too much for my head.

So the plan.... Don't know! Some infrascturcture as the economy is ready to collapse. The some crossbows and maces and attack the nearest Sury that's does not look to have them! Only orange Sury seams to have to stamina to put up a fight!!! Also Monotheism shoudl be stolen soon, so we switch to OR and get ALOT of diplo points!!!!

Ah, where have the peaceful and simple days of Monty, Shaka, and Ghengis gone???

OK, how does one do this?? I cannot seam to figure it out.

Go to the ingame menu, click on 'Your Details' and change the leader name from Madscientist to Suryavarman II.

Although it's insane enough as it is right now. :crazyeye:

By the way, I am partly colorblind making this game even more difficult.
Me too, but the only problem was with the whitish or light blue or whatever two and you killed one.

Nice game, a bit crazy... I suggest you give us a bit of detail about everything, maybe a state of the world post like in the ALCs, because I at least don't have the slightest of which sury is like what and religion and land and all... And please tell us the color combinations, you were fighting white sury, yet his land most clearly wasn't white.

I say that Sury will be a BAD threat later ingame. Sury will probably go for cultural or space, because he is such a peacemonger while i think sury will aggressively attack. Keep an eye on Sury and Sury, because you never know when Sury will backstab Sury. If he does, attack Sury so you can stay on Sury's good side, otherwise you would end up against Sury and Sury, which would be an absolute disaster, and Sury would probably kill you after Sury kills Sury.

So watch out.

OR will not necessarily earn much diplo. Remember the Foreign Advisor is as confused as the rest of us. Odds are most of the Surys have favorite civics other than OR.

@Rubbaduck: The Sury which has now been destroyed was the only one with a freakish color combination. His territory was green but his scoreboard name was white. The colors of the others all match.

The info screne on the diplomacy advisor shows all Sury's favorite civic is OR. The random personalities seam to affect the way they play but not the core Sury/khmer settings.

rotflol
I could read it again and still laugh.

Thanks Matt.

Seriously though, I think Conquest seems most viable, as Mad has all 3 EMR (early military resources). Attack Jewish Sury, then Wimpy sury, and go on from there.
