If that were the case there wouldnt possibly 3 gunman. Its being reported that the shootings were at least in two seperate buildings, so its not clear that this was a solo effort yet.

Possibly. But realize that Al Q has been planning stuff against us for well over 8 years or so, since prior to 9/11. It is possible for someone to make MAJ in that amount of time.

Shooting suspect is Army mental health specialist. CBS reports that suspected Ft. Hood shooter Maj. Hasan was a licensed psychiatrist from Maryland. According to the AP, a defense official said Hasan was a mental health professional -- either an Army psychologist or psychiatrist.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

He was promoted to major status in May, according to the Army Times.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, R-Texas, told Fox News that military sources informed her that the gunman was about to be deployed to Iraq.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

Hasan allegedly opened fire and killed 11 people on the base before he was shot dead, bringing the total number of fatalities to 12.
