Exactly. Black market for automatic weapons is based in the States. If it's possible for a guy in NY state, Maine or Vermont to buy these weapons, it's not very hard for someone here to get their hands on them. For once, their permissive and lenient laws should be at least mentionned. They're the ones with the gun culture, with the taste for bullets and useless automatic weaponry. You need a ClassIII permit (requiring a substantial background check), cannot buy ones manufactured after ~1995 (not sure of the year), and between the firearm itself and tax stamps you're way over USD$1000 and possibly above $10000. So while it is certainly possible, the regulations tend to prevent your average joe from getting a full-auto weapon legally here.
