Quiero hacer contigo lo que la primavera hace con los cerezos.
I want to do with you what the spring does with the cherry trees.

"Och när troende människor har att välja mellan det som är sant och det som inte är sant, så väljer de alltid det som inte är det. Lögnen är mycket stämningsfullare och sällsammare än sanningen och därför föredrar de den."

"And when believers have to choose between that which is true and that which is not true, they always choose that which isn't. The lie is always more emotional and peculiar than the truth and therefore they prefer it."

From a book I read called "Dvärgen" (the dwarf) by author Pär Lagerkvist. It's a Swedish classic from the 40s about a dwarf in a renaissance Italian principality, serving in the court of an Italian prince.

It's very good. The dwarf truly is a most nasty and disgusting person, but he's interesting nonetheless.

The first two lines of the Hymn of the Soviet Union:

Союз нерушимый республик свободных. Сплотила навеки Великая Русь!
Unbreakable union of free republics, Great Russia has wielded forever to stand!

"Nic netrvá věčně" is, apparently, Czech. AFAIK, it means "Nothing lasts forever". The reason it's in Czech is because one of the first pictures I remember seeing of the 1989 Revolution was of a Czech standing over a fallen statue of Lenin holding up a sign with those words on it.

Hašmo äšnaéa, du enleffu acaml cvoyahi denmélo.
A jewel might shine, but its molecules are dwarfed by DNA.
- Nigaippu proverb

Žal ĥezu saôpex saðúxôžatl hôga. Yarletix, Žal vé natisoxya ĥezu saðúpex sayeþ Aškôzen vé velfran frú. Kôrrí, Žal vé lerôðú ĥezu saínal saðúreĥ.
Zhal, always watch over us. Yarletix, Zhal's Sword, always fight Ashkozen's puppets. Korri, Zhal's Daughter, always love us.
- Ansu prayer

:D Matrix, who or what are the Nigaippu? Riddles, it's all riddles to me! :)

Well, the Nigaippu were a people in a conworld of mine that I never really expanded that much on. I've pretty much abandoned what little of that project I had, little of which I actually wrote down. However, I do like that proverb.

The Ansu, on the other hand, are from what I consider to be my main conworld.

And where are these worlds located (if they are on the internets), they sound like interesting places to visit.

Tillfällig Monarkist = Temporary Monarchist

It's the national day tomorrow and I'm showing my support for Sweden I guess. I don't like nationalism, but I'm making an exception since it's that time of the year.

Förvirrad SvenneBlatte = Confused SvenneBlatte

Svenne = a derogatory term for a(n) (ethnic)Swedish person, used by immigrants. "Damn svenne!"
Blatte = a derogatory term for an immigrant/person with immigrant parents.

I'm using it since, compared to most immigrants/people with immigrant parents, I am the very, very "Swedish". Both in my mannerism and my language. As such, along with the fact that I barely hang out with immigrants/people with immigrant parents, I'm sometimes called, in jest, a svenne by them. I know that I'm at least considered it.

At the same time, I'm still a "blatte", and not really considered a "true" Swede by some due to my dark skin.

Hence the confused part, as I do not really know what I am

Gosh, didn't know there was a thread like this (by now, I actually know all other existing threads, that's why this is so surprising).

"Bläckfisk i eget bläck" would translate to "squid in own ink" or similar. It's a tinned food product found among other tinned sea food like tuna, mackerell etc in a typical supermarket.

I like the dark connotations it has. Such a sad fate for a once free little squid swimming about in the sea: to be killed and served as food together with one's own juice! It also sounds like a depressing and perhaps dangerous situation: everything around you is black and it's your own fault. In fact you're swimming in your own problems and can see no way out! Crisis indeed!

From Crab with the Golden Claw, in the original French:

Scoundrels, jellyfish (in the English edition anyway, Google Translate says "plasters"), tramps, troglodytes, "tchouck-tchouck-nougat" (no idea - in the English edition it's "toffee noses"), savages, Aztecs, toads, carpet sellers, iconoclasts!

"I cannot play with you", the fox said.
"I am not yet tamed!"

from Der Kleine Prinz - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry [German version]

I think 科拉 means "Korra", but I'm not sure. :dunno:
