Single Player bugs and crashes - After the 13th of August 2013

Probably a known bug but if not here it is:

Playing yesterdays SVN, a defending Tribal Guardian doesn't receive his 200% city defense bonus but as shown in screenie only 25%.

Is it that the 200% bonus just is active against barbarians? Because I hovered over the enemy Tribal Guardian and was surprised to find my strength 3 ex-hut spearman (+10%) to knock out that strength 2 guardian with 200% + 25% defense at a 87,5% chance!

I have often seen AI capture capitals early before but never was quite sure why it could be. The early hut "Spearman" bug was it!


So
1. Why does the defense bonus not apply?
2. Should Spearmen in huts only be able to be found once you have stone working which unlocks the Clubman? The idea is that huts should always be able to grant one better unit than whats available. So if your best unit is a brute you would be able to find a clubman in a hut. If it was a clubman, you could find a spearman and so on...

...back to GEM starting as England or Japan - Everything else is just too easy because you can exploit the starting game so well with a bit of brains...

1)@Koshling: You recall when you removed the city defense modifier saying it should've already been counted on the plot modifier portion? Maybe that has something to do with this...

You're right - the CvPlot defense modifier adds the city defenses, but not the unit-for-city aspect. I will reinstate it now.
 
Buffalo Hump doesn't load properly - the artdefines schema file is missing - you only included the units one in this folder...
 
pedia is messed up also after last SVN??

Stuff from goody huts is based on era not on tech. This is one area we do need to do some work on but have not had the chance.

The civpeida stops at Lime Orchard. Thus usually means a code error in the buildings. Usually around the letter that it leaves off at. So probably something that stats with the letter L. Please check over you most recent updates over the last few days.

I have had this happen to me many times. Its one of the most annoying bugs you can get. Just make sure you check your buildings in civpedia before submitting to the SVN next time.

Probably. In Mr Azure's list of buildings since last version, that's the only one starting with 'L'. Plus it is close alphabetically after 'lime'...

Fixed an error in Fautmouses files that was causing the pedia to cut off at Lime Orchards. It was apparently a missing S in BOPNUS_WARES_METAMATERALS resource.

Since we use platyping's WB I did not change any files dealing with WB when I did the BUG 4.4 merge.(One file still to do- the main one). I am having no problems with WB at the beginning of the game through to Middle Ages. Although it is very slow to load up.

I will check as soon as Koshling puts his how to use new GlobalDefines up. I think it was what Hydro just wrote above that was causing the WB to mess up, but not to sure?

Will check it out and get back to you, if its not it, then i will put a copy of my savedgame here, and you can do a debug, sound ok??

All except the bit about me debugging it. I don't have the time or inclination at the moment. One friend has just come out of hospital having a cancer cut out of him and another is going into hospital tomorrow for a different but benign cancer and a much bigger op - they have already tried once to remove it but could not get to all of it. :(

The dump shows a crash somewhere in the game engine itself (not our code), probably due to a MAF. When I load and do a recalc when asked (without viewports) I get a MAF also. With viewports (set at 40X40) though, it all works fine for me. I have tried this with both the assets I had (a couple of days out of date), and the very latest, with the same results.

So, a couple of questions:

1) When you turned viewports on did you restart the Civ4 engine before you tried to use this save? (viewport on/off only takes effect across a restart)

2) What viewport size did you try? (I used the default 40X40)

Incidentally, since you seem to be the only player visible in this game, is this some sort of unusual 1-person-score challenge or something?

Ahh that was my problem- I hadn't used VP's before and didn't realise I hadn't actually turned them on. That fixed it. My bad. Thanks Koshling and SO.

Great support as always guys.

@Koshling- yes, there are 12 other Civs out there, we just haven't found each other.

OK i did an export and i STILL canNOT get the WB to work, i STILL get this error

which means i cannot do anything in the WB at all, so if NO body can resolve this, then i cant make sure that my commits will work.


Also i get this in the debug area, (see pic 1) also while doing so i got a CTD (see minid)

So with the DEBUG, i cant play at all, i keep getting CTD's:mad:

JFYI, i deleted completely the Custom Assets folder, the cache files, and the logs files.

DEBUG fails if the assets are broken - if you search for that bonus in he assets you'll likely find it is used but no defined - the assets need fixing in that regard.

In regard to WB - does it occur on any attempt to get into WB on any map for you? I just tried in my game and I get into WB fine. However, I don't have the VERY latest assets (about 2 days old), so I'll try again with the latest a bit later today...

EDIT: OK i took out Faustmouse module and it worked withOUT it, so something in that modules is messing with the WB????

Latest (with your fixes) is working for me (WB starting fine). Is it now working ok for you too?

Also, the debug DLL had not been updated for some time, so it was effectively an old version. I have now uploaded the latest debug DLL to the SVN (6061)

Good because i was getting CTD's with the old one anyways. THX for everything. . . SO
