Single Player bugs and crashes - After the 24th of February 2014

Any progress on this?

JosEPh

This kind of effort is another week or two of work potentially. If I'm lucky it can be addressed more quickly over the weekend than that but that's the worst case.

Alberts is working on some things that will help too.

Sometimes when I buy ships, they have less than their normal complement of cargo spaces. Even when a cog is empty, it can say 1 to 4 of 4 spaces are occupied. I thought it was only cogs, but I've got a galleon with only 4 spaces now too. Sometimes the cogs get some or all of their spaces back over time - sometimes they don't.

The other problem reported by SO and me - where some land units you buy do not show up in the unit list in your capital (ever) - is also still there. Perhaps they're related...(or just good friends...:p)

Also requires culture North American. You are Australia, so Oceanian culture. Did you capture a North American City?

I dunno why the grassland to the NE of Canberra doesn't count though.

Crap, your right, i am so used to playing MY name in this culture war, that i forgot i changed it to Australia this time, so MY BAD.

That explains it can you get any of the other bonus prereqs? if not maybe we need to add another one.

Not sure I understand what you're asking - sorry. I did try putting a charcoal resource on the map & built a fort on it, which restored forges etc.

I literally have that much coin right now. The game is broken and I don't know what to do.

Edit in World Builder somehow?

I was asking if you could get any of the other bonuses with buildings.... or if that is not possible. If it is not possible this must be fixed by e.g. adding another prereq.

When you say BUY do you mean from other civs? Or rushing the production in a city? Buying units from other civs does have a known bug in the process somewhere. Been a while since anyone mentioned it. I'm actually not sure where it takes place.

One thing you can do if you're running with size matters is split the ship then merge it again and it will reset its values (this is an interesting way to recalculate any unit actually.)

But given the numbers your expressing I'm thinking you're not on size matters for that game. I'd have to look into it but there's a lot of pressing things this weekend so I'm not sure I'll have time.

I do wanna look at that crash bug posted earlier this page though... and the improvement upgrade crash is very important to review immediately I believe.

Yes that's right in both cases I mean buying from another civ.

For the units not showing up in the capital, I've discovered that using . or , to cycle through the units there does allow you to select them. So they don't inconvenience me personally too much.

Have you been changing things in WB?

Have you changed or modified any files while playing this game?

What version (official release or SVN build) are you using?

A Savegame would be needed for the problem to be studied.

See 1st post in this thread for details on how and what to upload.

Ps. I started a new game (a little over a week ago) with SVN 7137 and have updated to SVN 7409 and have Not seen anything like what you have in the screen shot.

the interface is messed up i cant end turn, city buildings cant be shown, and movement of units is messed up.

plus jet bomber and supersonic bomber cant reduce city defences.

Pretty sure I know what happened here and my debugging efforts on the CTD and the crash on selection in the popup box may also fix this. You can't fix it after the fact in a game of course but you can keep it from happening again. Once my next update comes in anyhow. This effort also attempts to make this system run much faster as well since there was a noteworthy slowdown when introduced. I think I've also figured out why that is and the fix to all 4 issues are bundled together into one solution. I'm around the corner from having it all repaired.

Yeah, that buying units thing has always been problematic on a number of levels. I'll try to look into it at some point and you've certainly given some interesting data as to what happens with it.

Old bug still here:
"Field Commanders" still can't get promotions unless one exit the game after turning a "Great General" into a "Field Commander".

After a restart all existing "Field Commanders" work as they should; but if you get a new one he will gain experience but never level up.

One does not need to exit to desktop; loading a save from inside a game is enough to fix them.

If a save is necessary I'll provide one the next time I get a Great General, but should It be a save from before I turn him into a field commander, right before I get the general or after he's gained a lot of experience without leveling up?

As far as I remember, this used to happen when buying transport ships and land units. The problem probably has something to do with that some land units are loaded on the transport ships. If you buy both the unit and the ship it is loaded in, you can unload the ship and normally control the unit and the ship. However, if you buy a ship without buying the units it carries, you get transport ships with partially or fully filled capacity.

From the round he just earned enough to level during - before ending the turn. Very odd this one. I'll check the code again which may be the only way to really catch this.
