Single Player bugs and crashes - After the 24th of February 2014

It was SVN7700. There was no ranged assault button, otherwise I would have used it.

Yeah sorry - my mistake I guess. I was targeting a HN ship in friendly waters (adjacent to my city), so it's a special case. That never worked with the old archer bombard, so it's asking a lot for it to work with either system now.

On the other hand, it allowed me to select the unit for targeting (which it didn't used to) - it just didn't allow me to hit it. Can archers please keep their archer bombard accuracy for situations like this? Seems like all the hard work to make this happen has already been done...

Also, I find my HNs can ranged assault inside my borders, but not inside anyone else's (when not at war of course). Can that be fixed?

Interestingly, I had a case where they could even RA target the tile they were on...
If you can capture saves for these situations it would help. Again, Archer Bombard should be completely outdated at this point. The only reason an archer wouldn't have a Ranged Assault button would (or should at least) be if Ranged Assault were off. They can target sea units if within range (and be targeted by them as well.) There's no known conditional disabling of accuracy.

The case where your HN units could target the tile they were on could've been if they were invisible and an opponent unit was on the same plot. Not sure what would be going on with borders interacting with their ability to RA but there must be something to that somewhere. Just don't know where... Much of the RA code was adapted from its original and there could be some overlooked details like these that I'd need to find.

I have a Great General in a foreign city. I'm not in Worldview Cannibalism, but apparently they are, because my GG has the button to Abandon Cannibalism. I'll keep a screenie and a save in case you want it.

Yeah sorry. It may be a while before I get another pirate ship in domestic waters adjacent to archers.

No there's plenty of ranged assault going on. But none of my archers had the RA button despite being adjacent to a Dragon Ship. All of my archers had the Archer Bombard button, but none of them hit (except iirc a Hero archer...), so I'm assuming their accuracy is now zero.

That's great news!:goodjob:

I can almost certainly provide a save for this, since it's the case with all HNs all the time... (vv watch this space... vv)

Ok here's the save. Also includes the cannibalism button case.
Instructions: The orange blob to the NE of centre on the minimap is the Dutch. I have two HN rifles in their city Bibracte. Both have RA buttons, but neither can RA the adjacent Dutch units (or anyone else since there is no friendly territory in range).
To the southeast there is a fort: east of Bragman's Bluff (3rd city from the north on my west coast) and 3 due south of Ngati Ruanui. The Inniskilling in there can RA target any tile in range, including his own - despite there being no non-friendly units in any of them. (Iirc I believe I tried it once and they try to destroy the improvement...)

For the Cannibalism:
The Korean lands are 3/4s of the way down the minimap, exactly in the centre of the longitude dimension. My GG/GC (Ilmari Juutilainen) is in the second city from the right along their north coast.

lol... this one's for DH. Should be pretty straightforward to add a check to these missions that you're in a city of your own (not even team would count since this is only applicable to the player level.)

Archers have pretty bad odds (about 50% once fully promoted) so it's not 0 but it's also not good. Gets better with time as everything else does in civ.

Ok... as time permits I'll look into the bombard issue with HN units. I wasn't aware there might be any border concerns for RA but I'll read through the code to see if I can find it first. Shouldn't be terribly difficult to spot.

Report: My wife and I played extensively this evening and the game is running very nicely. Only one odd OOS error... they've been minimal and tolerable. I've got some logs to investigate but so far nothing's been unacceptable there. And the AI HAS INDEED taken some serious steps forward in their capability to perform overall!

As far as I can see I have the Outcomes of the missions correct
- you must be in a city
- you can't be in neutral or hostile territory.

I could set friendly territory to true but that is just the same as not hostile nor neutral.

There is nothing to say it must be your city only a friendly city. I think open borders makes them friendly. The building check must check for the building in the city you are in not in your cities also.

I'll give it a try with the save and see if setting the bFriendlyTerritory flag to true fixes the problem but not until tomorrow.

To clarify, are you saying that pressing the Archer Bombard button (because there is no Ranged Assault button) results in a ranged assault anyway? I'm not disputing it or complaining, I just want to get clear whether that's what you're saying/implying. If that's the case, they simply RA'd & missed, and there's no bug here.

It (Archer Bombard) uses the same accuracy value total as Ranged Assault. Might have worse odds though. I'd have to check on that. As to how it tallies the damage I'm not sure either so I'd have to again take another look.

Your save is much to big for my poor machine. Please extract the enclosed file into the Assets/Modules/DancingHoskuld/Captives folder and see if it fixes the problem. Please report back on the result, thanks.

As posted on another thread:

I haven't played C2C in a while, and recently upgraded my computer, so I decided to give one of the larger maps a shot.
I am playing a game on the second to largest map with graphics on High and screen resolution 1920x1080. The game frequently crashes to the desktop, most of the time it says something like this program has requested termination in an unusual way.

Once I got an error saying it ran out of VRAM, and once no error occurred. After the VRAM error I realized I hadn't installed my graphics card's drivers, but even after doing that the game crashed within 10 turns with no error. My computer has a 4th generation i5, 16 GB of RAM, and GeForce GTX 770 with 4 GB of VRAM. I would think those specs would be able to easily handle a game like civilization, even with the bigger map and more content of C2C. Is there anything I can do to mitigate the crash to desktops?
The version is 34.

The forum said that my save was too big to add as an attachment (its 3.44 MB) and it failed to upload the MiniDump_7077.dmp file. The MiniDump_7077.dmp file is 0 bytes. I'm not sure if its the right file, but its the only MiniDump file I could find.

Edit: Managed to upload a compressed save file

Enclosed where?

New game 1st crash?? Clicked on next turn, and poof

Crash is in the exe just after referring to a city. I suspect it may be a building art issue.

As i was moving my units around, poof crash??? I cant proceed any further, period (RomePM Era Ren)

I have tried now 5 times and same thing

EDIT Now ALL my games are crashing, so it cant be , it has to be in the dll, because they are in waaaay different places??
mini 76981 and AusPM1 Era Modern

The first one is the same as the last. I can try reverting one thing that may be the culprit and see if it works to get past... on rare occasion an exe crash can be fixed in this way. I'll have to run the saves on those to verify that the crash happens for me as well, then that reverting the only suspicious recent adjustment I can think of fixes it. Again, it may be a 3d building art in the city that's 'wrong' somehow.

The second I can fix - has to do with the AI loading missiles and either a function hasn't been finished as expected or the logic needs changing... should be an easy fix.

Happy to take a look later but I wouldn't be surprised if the problem was fixed since you're playing on v34 stock.

Problem is still there I'm afraid.

Now my Man of Wars have no RA button. And is it correct that Frigates, Galleons and Cogs have RA range of zero now?

Frigates and Galleons have Cannonball weapons while Cogs have shortbows at least so I'm not seeing any reason why they would unless again they were in play before the adjustments were made to those combat classes.

A few errors from the debug dll, i can't find those buildings anywhere:confused:.
