Single Player bugs and crashes v35 plus (SVN) - After the 18th of August 2014

@TB:
Regarding Blue Genie's post about XP and level preview while building units, this doesn't seemto take great military instructors into account either.

@Reisk:"Power" is basically a value for each units and some buildings and resources, that are added up and represent the military "power" of a nation (the graph and also the ratio to other nations). It's only an indicator on the total military strength of a nation, rather then an actual combat value. Still, 40 for Hydrogen Bomb is off, indeed.

Bug reporting IS appreciated, however, what you do it mostly complaining or insulting. We are doing this FOR FUN. We all have other things in life as well: jobs, uni, school, family, friends... We don't get paid for doing it, neither are we under contract and NOBODY ever said we HAVE to share this mod with the public.
Also, SVN versions are a beta version, as I explained earlier. This is per definition a testing version to the public, so more ppl can go bug hunting then just the modders.

That said, how about you give it a try and review outdated pedia entries and then write new ones. You don't need any coding knowledge. Just write stuff in editor and then it's pretty simple copy and paste the text at the right place of the code.

Right, I captured a screenshot recently about that but forgot to post it. It's just a presentational bug, XP by military instructors are awarded when built, but not shown.

Military Instructors only give exp to land military units. If you want your story tellers to get exp then settle some Great Artists.

So yeah...
@BG: Are they even getting XP at the moment? The first part of that report is obviously an issue but the entertainer bit - DH brings the question to mind on that. I wouldn't have thought about this myself since I play with the Specialist XP option so it's very easy to give them XP with that and I would've assumed they should be getting some but the way it works without that option would be extremely constrictive and if they aren't getting any XP they won't show any they could get.

I meant in general: All units (Archers, Axeman...) are not displayed to get XP from Military instructors. I *think* XP from wonders like Pentagon are not shown as well, if they were build in a different city.

The flexible difficulty mechanics don't work well. The difficulty only rises for me and IA. Never goes down even when the IA stay behind in score.

I was getting exp shown from specialists. Note I always play without the Specialist XP option as I feel it is far to easy to get exp in C2C.

I can't check anything at the moment because I get a CTD as soon as I start a game at the moment. I can get to the pedia and generate a map but as soon as I get passed the three splash screens at the beginning and try to do anything CTD.

Some of my storyteller show the option of build up of education but i pass the turn and the bonus dont happens. I try to "clean" the storyteller walking and put to sleep, but even with that the build up dont have effect.

When i revert to pre 8200 (svn 8199) the problem is fixed, but some of my storytellers just disappear.

A save:

I get a CTD everytime i try to finish the "sand paintings" building.

Even when i add the building through WB i still get a CTD whenever i get to whatever replaced sand paintings.

updated svn few hours ago to no change.

press enter to start building "sand paintings" to get the CTD.

This is the only one of the crashes I tested that I couldn't fix (art problem presumably - and by the description I'd suspect something to do with the sand paintings BUT I think it has something to do with the last unit that the first AI player trains before the game crashes.

Alberts2 - what's your secret to finding the exact missing art references?

I'll check the save but are you getting the first level of the buildup and no more than that or just no buildup promos at all? Certainly could be an issue if its the latter. If its the first that's how its supposed to work for a while until you tech qualify for more benefit. But I think that was already mentioned earlier so it sounds like they're just not getting any of the buildups right? Yeah... could be an easy but important fix. Is it only happening with Education buildups or all buildups?

So even after adding the building through the WB and adding more things in the prod. queue, it still crashes the moment it gets to where "sand paintings" were.

which means.....something.

Are you using the Advanced Nukes option?

Yes but that only brings more units into play right ? Units that now seems to be all copies of each other and only few having a different range.

Since these weapons come with very different costs and build times, they are now definitely totally broken since there isn't any sense to produce nothing but tac nukes and icbms.

Surely it does not make any sense either that tac nuke and hydrogen bomb are equally destructive, let alone tac nuke and tac fusi of fusi nova.

Indeed it is as are many many other things. Continuously from version to version.

Bug reporting IS appreciated, however, what you do it mostly complaining or insulting.

Only if you find honest truth insulting, that should really tell you something. Don't let your product be so damn bugged if it hurts you that much. Why do you keep producing the same cause if you don't like the consequence ? There is definitely some real life lesson of causality for you.

We are doing this FOR FUN. We all have other things in life as well: jobs, uni, school, family, friends... We don't get paid for doing it, neither are we under contract and NOBODY ever said we HAVE to share this mod with the public.

And i want to play quality games for fun and not wander in your continuous beta-jungle. Fun really is far from here since now i have chewed three broken versions of your product. Without factories that suddenly are totally broken in V35 for some very strange reason, this latest would qualify as playable, although the ai seems to be quite fkn up as well but thats what changechangechange inevitably brings. Now i ditch another version among the previous V33 and V34 broken crap and instead fire up games that work and are fun to play.

Working for free is no excuse for continually producing a broken product, on the contrary. If you are so ashamed of it and can't stand honest and clear feedback from those who are supposed to enjoy it, don't make it public. Very simple. If makers of this really threaten to leave if some workability and quality if demanded from them, such douches should have been gone long ago since they clearly do not love the game and mod they are making. Naturally eventually they will and wouldn't you like to have something that actually works by then ?? I don't see what you get from producing a mod that is broken version after version.

Also, SVN versions are a beta version, as I explained earlier. This is per definition a testing version to the public, so more ppl can go bug hunting then just the modders.

That is why i only play the "official" versions. Alas, they keep remaining broken. Wonder how many more i can bother to try.

How about you keep your lame hiring proposals to yourself and continue to produce broken crap for free is that is your thing. I don't work for free and certainly not in a group that appreciates quantity continuously and blindly far higher than quality. All work in that mindset is futile and three (many more no doubt) broken versions prove that. You really should change that "this mod is awesome" thing to "this mod could be awesome". Product certainly is a picture of it's maker.

I would certainly have given up all care for this seemingly hopeless and illogical endeavor of yours but i am a long time big fan of Civ-series and it really pains to see a mod that could be hands down the best there is while it is continuously abused with totally fkd up development priorities and quality negligence of criminal proportions.

Well, luckily for me the world is full of activities that are fun. Including many games and mods that actually work. :)

More and varied in range and payload.

The fusi or nova bombs change land into sea whereas nukes only give fallout. The fallout can be removed and the land brought back to life. Land turned into sea can't, the cities and forts go to.

... I don't work for free ...

Unlike those who are building the mod.:) You just need to remember that "You get what you pay for". You are not paying anything so why do you expect to get anything? Lower your expectations on free stuff and you wont be as disappointed and maybe pleasantly surprised instead.

I played a number of hours with the current SVN version and I didn´t have any instabilities and a very smooth gameplay (with a quite high-end computer, though). Congratulations to the team!
But now I do get a repeatable CTD, savegame and minidump are attached.

You simply have to attack the barbaric city of Bantu with eather Shapur or Alp Arslan and C2C goes into Nirwana...

I am using today´s SVN with slight adjustments: Alternative Terrain by Sparth, the improved Tech Window by Sparth and I changed the XML so I have no Anarchy when I change Civics or Religions. Probably not related to the CTD though...

PS: The game also CTDs when I finish the turn without attacking Bantu.
PPS: This CTD happens with SVN 8208. When I reverted to 8205 there is no CTD (so far). Will try 8212 now...
PPPS: 8208 and 8212 show CTD, 8205 doesn´t.
Crash is gone with newest SVN version - thanks Thunderbrd :goodjob: !

With all. The units that already have the levels of build up just keep, if i dont move. If i move the unit lost and can't build up anymore.

Indeed.

Well I think it's great, frustrating at times but worth it

Entertainers do get some XP, mostly from civics but also from some few buildings I think as I have had a different XP count (not counting Civilian specialists) when trained in two different cities, only with 1 so far, but still.
The amount they get are not displayed, only seen after they are built, and that includes if setting up a bunch of Civilians specialists.

Cheers
