Single Player bugs and crashes v35 plus (SVN) - After the 18th of August 2014

city of babylonian is in revolution, it's an iland only, I ocupied it with marines.
then
1) partisans on sea fields with red balloon (scrrenshot 1), I choosed set new goveneur
2) city for 6 turns in revolution, I sav the file, click next turn
3) partisans still on sea fields, w/o red ballons (scrrrenshot 2), city for 5 turns in revolution, click next turn
4) I got "you are defeated" etc. ....
5) made hard game exit, new game start, load of the sav I made before
6) same as above at (3), I click next turn
7) partisans no longer shown, turn proceed fine.

This points to two problems:-

1) the pink bubble means that the partisan button is not correct.

2) the partisan code has not been written to take into account sea and coastal tiles.

What is probably happening with the "you are defeated.." message is that the partisan units on the water are being moved back into the city. Where as they should have been moved to the other island.

What we need is a partisan unit that is OK on the water but can attack land. IE a true amphibious unit for that era.

Partisans is a mod we merged into C2C (or maybe it was way back in RoM) I doubt much work was done on it. It is a fairly small bit of python so it should be fairly easy to fix. Any ideas on what should be done?

edit There are a couple of real jeeps out there, although one set is actually hummers.
 
Jeep is wrong name for early motorized infantry (or recon infantry) unit. Its name of the particular vehicle which was used mostly by US army. Other civs got other type of unit, like German SdKfz 251.

IMO name of the Jeep should be changed, HUMVEE also. Its easy to do this and if I have green light then Ill change them. Similar change in past was made with planes and helicopter units if I remember correctly.

Agreed - suggest should be "Motorized Infantry" - and the other problem with "Jeep" is being an open unarmoured vehicle it belongs (if anywhere!!:rolleyes:) in the recon line at :strength:15-20, not as an upgrade of an Armoured Car!

So there is still a "problem" with the model(s), because it seems some civs get an armoured graphic (which is more appropriate for the current :strength: 38 unit) while others just get the jeep...

The US Army Jeep in WWII/Korea could also be armed with a 30 Caliber machine gun.

Like wise the Deuce and a half Transport truck could have a 50 Caliber Ring mount roof mounted machine gun. My father drove one in Korea while delivering ammunition to the front lines during the Korean Conflict. He told me he had to used it many times.

So either could be armed. Not all were of course.

Motorized Infantry were first designated in WW2, they typically 'mounted' up in trucks and were used as dragoons or mounted infantry... dismounting prior to combat. Mechanized Inf (developed at the same time) used armored vehicles (i.e. half tracks) and dismounted in combat while the vehicles provided support.

For the most part the vehicles would be intrinsic to the base unit (i.e. just part of modernizing as the unit upgrades). As for having a unique unit the only (Civ) purpose they could serve I think would be in the recon role. I suggest that Jeeps should be renamed 'Scout Car' and be part of the Recon/scout line. Yes they typically had machine guns, but this was more for self defense (i.e. part of their strength) and to help them get away. They were not used as offensive weapons, with a very, very tiny few exceptions (google 'Desert Rats') which probably better fit under special forces type units themselves.
 
Problem with scout units is that players dont need them past Industrial age when almost entire map is discovered and planes are available.

In other hand RL amount of jeeps and humvee in US army (for example) is far beyond needs of scouting units. They are working mules of modern army :)

Yes they are about transport and communication. Land transport does not work in BtS because the AI does not understand it and there is no need for secure communication because the player (human and AI) knows everything about their nation.

They might fit in with the supply lines idea but otherwise probably don't really belong in BtS.

Although thinking on it a jeep may be a good way to get your Great Commander about the place, IE have an upgraded GC that uses the jeep/humvee graphic some how giving the GC greater movement.

Not sure if this is a bug or as intended.

I went into a 5 turn Anarchy period, due to civic changes. Prior to this techs were taking 1 turn each.

During Anarchy no buildings took place or extra money etc was accumulated, as expected.

But. Every turn I researched a new tech and was given the opportunity of choosing the next one.

So 5 turns of Anarchy, and 5 new techs.

I think this may be due to the research you get from the Education levels, not being stopped when in Anarchy - or is it intended to work that way..
 
It can be made to eventually. The armored car/jeep/humvee line was going to be a land transport line if I recall. Primarily for special individuals like commanders for example. The scouting line was to be the motorcycles and the armored combat wheeled vehicles (albeit yes armored cars/jeeps/humvees ARE this, they aren't exclusively this) would have their own line. Some work has already been done in this dept but there's still some sorting out and revamping yet to be done there. It's low on the pole of priorities, very few of which are getting much progress made on them at the moment as it is. Hell... last Saturday was just another work day for me. At this point I'm doing a very small amount of work on the mod in very small patches of time. But it'll come around eventually.
 
I attacked an AI unit that had self-heal II and reduced it to 0.36/8 strength (something like that anyway). I suspect it has lost 100HPs or more, because (ie. here's the bug) I am unable to attack it any more. Units that could attack it are prevented from entering its tile (although mouseover with go-to button or right-click says they can enter the tile without attacking).
 
Another game, another repeatable crash after EoT ...

Latest SVN (updating SVN didn't prevent crash).
GEM map, custom civ megapack from modmods section. Already using xml for similar unit graphic styles (was posted above for possible problems with animations bugs).
Tried recalculating - didn't help either.

have similar issues ofen. Often with criminals on a horse, which I can't attack anymore and they block the field for this turn, but next turn they don't exist anymore.
But if I use helicopter for the aack, I can kill them and the field is free after.
