Single Player bugs and crashes v36 plus (SVN) - After the 24th of October 2015

Ok... here's what I think is happening then and maybe I can do something about it but:

The unit moves in and the fort IS, for the understanding of the current coding, captured. However... the PLOT itself is stil, for a bit, owned by the opponent because the radiant culture from the previous owner still overwhelms the amount of culture you've got on the tile yourself from owning the fort. Get another attack unit in and somehow it realizes that this plot really is supposed to be yours. Wait a bit and your culture from the fort that is now yours quickly takes priority over a few rounds and the cultural ownership of the plot switches over.

I think I can get in there and get it clarified for the plot ownership segment once things calm down a bit on the barb/animal front here.

Again, if it takes a month or so, no biggy ok, i'd really rather u concentrate on the Traits as u explained it, or rather the the Culture stuff on civs, or the Nomad stuff.

It shouldn't be that complicated a bug to resolve once I've addressed all the matters that break savegames - that's what's enforcing me to work on the current issues I'm focused on at the moment. Trying to get us past this point where we're making all sorts of save breaking changes.

SVN 9124

If you do not found your city with starting Band and ST immediately, but go searching for a better spot, by turns 10-13 you will encounter at least 2 wild animals. While the game does not show them attacking, when you press/click on Red EoT button the game will infinite loop.

Running man and Spearpoint cursors will alternate continuously. Trying any other method to End turn does not work. You must Ctrl/Alt/Del to Task Manager and then Restart Computer. Trying to End Task in TM for Win 10 does Not work.

If you settle before turn 10 or before you meet 2 Wild Animals game proceeds as normal.

Suspect this has been there for sometime but not sure of that either.

Interesting set of circumstances to create this effect. Please post a save that reliably hits this infinite loop wall so it can be evaluated. At the moment, I can work with that.

I believe this is the one Joe was talking about when a unit takes over a fort but does NOT take control of that tile?? unless another unit comes in also??

I've read through the code regarding this issue and it looks correct so I'm missing something somewhere and unfortunately I cannot use this save since saves are being broken lately. Once that calms down I'll want a new example if it can be found. Sorry to delay the fix on this matter.

I'll see if I can capture it. Because you can get the 2nd Wild animal to only show when the EoT button is clicked.

And is this green and orange flag the New flag for wild animals? Since they and barbs are now separated.

It's one of two of them for wild animals. There's 2 groups, Beasts and Creatures. Toffer did the flag decal. The color for the flag is set in the civilization settings for these 2 NPC civs.

Hopefully you can capture it right away, because I'll next be launching into more stuff that will break saves.

I've been trying non stop since the last post to capture this and I've not been successful. I can get it to repeat but catching it prior to it happening has proven rather difficult.

But what I have learned is that my ST and Band are destroyed but instead of the Pop up "You have been Defeated" showing up the game goes into an infinite autosave loop.

If I go to one of the autsaves and can get it to load (not all will) Then the Pop up for Defeat shows up and then the charts and so on till you can exit to main Menu.

I'm kinda burnt out at the moment. Maybe I can capture one tomorrow.

Ah... that's a known and confusing bug that one. And yes, it's not repeatable for some reason. The problem is something to do with an infinite loop on losing the game that CAN take place. Then if the game is saved during the loop and reloaded it goes immediately into the portion it couldn't seem to find its way into. Since its non-repeatable it's not been able to be evaluated such that it can be sorted out. This one's been with us for a long while now.

I wouldn't worry further about it considering that it will not be a case you can make repeat. I MIGHT be able to set it up to happen so that I can catch it in the act - basically starting a game and purposefully running it until I lose. Pretty low priority though as a lost game is one nobody would continue to play anyhow.

Unit (slinger) with <armed guard> not atacking - it's a bug?

Nope. Read the description on Armed Guard. If it doesn't say that it gives cause for the unit to be unable to attack then THAT would be a bug.

The big problem, if it is given for a win without your will. A strong combat unit is absolutely useless.

That's a very good point and easily resolved. My apologies for the oversight that allows this.

EDIT: the fix is being committed now (won't remove such a promotion assigned in this manner but will keep them from being earned in this way in the future.)

Caught another bug. When I started a war, i took a few battles and reatred. After a few turns I noticed that my units aren't able to be heal any more... maybe problem in combination of theese types of healing promotions(first aid animals, first aid peoples, paramedic, repair mechanical (battering rum caught this bug too), self repair and repair naval at galley which transfered my forces) + terrain damage on. I just have no butoon to repair/heal... (at all units not only who retreated...)

Ow... turned off terrain damage and all is fixed for now...

Units cannot be set to fortify until healed when the terrain they are on causes them damage. There IS a bug there for grouped units, some of which CAN heal... something like that. I may be able to solve that puzzle now if I can find it again. Not high priority though so I'll address it next time I run across it.

SVN 9125

Game keeps crashing for me after the first turn. Also, if I save game, C2C crashes on load of save game (but not on reloading the initial save).

Did a few more test runs, the issue occurs just after doing a save. It is almost as though the the save is corrupt or the loading of the save is corrupt.
