Single Player bugs and crashes v36 plus (SVN) - After the 24th of October 2015

I meant in the civilopedia, before you start a game of C2C. The list of promotions stops at Wanted I, and any time you click on any promotion you are at the start of the promotion list again.

When I change the promotionline for the non-H&S Wanted promo, the list is alright again and you can click on any promotion (and get the info again), although you get an xml-warning before you get to the menu.

I haven't tested this issue in-game yet (in a C2C game, that is), but after updating I always check the civilopedia, because an incomplete list often shows an xml-problem, and you don't risk playing for a few hours only to hover over a broken unit/promotion/building/whatever with an instant crash to desktop.

Interesting. I'll take a look into it.

@Winter Warrior,

Just noticed in your 1st image that you are using Start as Minors. This puts you into a constant state of war until you and the AI research Writing. With this option On you have to build all the happiness buildings you can And get a State Religion going in all your cities. There are other factors too like making sure you are building up your Education levels and keeping them out of the negative range. Crime and Disease must also be kept under control.

I hope that you also do not have Aggressive AI on as well. It too will add to the "battle" of keeping your cities under control.

@Niveras,
Revolution was added to C2C over 7 years ago. It was updated somewhat in the Mods early years. But even the Mod Revolutions and it's offshoot Legends of Revolutions (LoR) have not had any real attention for the past 2 years or so. Even those last versions still had Bugs/balance issues.

But ppl that play with Revolutions Option On have a hard time playing a game with out it because they believe C2C won't be as challenging. In that they are mistaken. But as with any option it's a matter of choice and play style preference.

To each their own as they say. :)

I haven't played for a while and just update to SVN 9261. I was planning on starting a new game. However, the mod won't load. I have a shortcut for Caveman2Cosmosthat points to this; "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" ini=CivilizationIVC2C.ini"
In that ini file (which I haven't touched) I have ; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none
Mod = Caveman2Cosmos

However, when I start from my Caveman2Cosmos shortcut, a vanilla Civ4 game starts. When I load a mod from that screen, a popup comes up telling me the path is wrong. I haven't touched any ini files or anything. All I did was update to 9261.

Start a Play Now game, do 1 turn and then exit. This will clear the cache that is holding your previous version's data.

You should then be able to start a new custom game.

You really need to get rid of that "special" .ini file Or remember that when you update to the next version to do a Play Now to clear the Cache file that holds the previously used versions data.

And what OS are you using again? Win 7 or Win 10?

I tried this and it didn't work. I also tried restoring my options folder and still didn't work. Trying to start C2C from regular Civ4 gave me an error message;

Mods\ods\Caveman2Cosmos\ is an invalid mod directory, ignoring

Then a regular game of Civ4 starts.

That has happened to me also trying to use a shortcut, all u need to do is start "normal" BtS exe then after that the shortcut should work again, happens about once a month . sometimes .. .

I only came into the mod recently myself, so given all the problems it has I'm not sure why it was included with C2C. Well, there's the obvious that it is a neat, new mechanic, and perhaps the issues with it weren't apparent before it became an integral part of C2C.

It was included before there was a Caveman2Cosmos.:lol: As things are added to C2C they can break older stuff, criminals was a case in point, some bits still are broken because of them. The problem with Revolutions is that it is big, does a lot and is mixed in everywhere. Just recently I tried to replace the Revolutions Dynamic Civ Names with a new one but I could not find all the bits so we don't have Dynamic Civ names now.

Who has been tweaking Events?

I have searched for those Top Civ notifications with no luck so far. It looks like the popup is done in the exe. A search on the text used finds it in the text files but I could not find any Python that used that text id, or part of it.

I have not yet checked the bit which puts up a message when you achieve stuff like get your first food for complex code that may combine text in some way to end up with the text key.

edit I have checked that code now and it is not there either. However I can tell you that the coders were paid by the line:lol: and I may be able to do something about improving the building suggestions to include crime and other properties.

Well, it worked once. Now it's not working again. Tried starting from Beyondthesword.exe and although it worked before, it's not working now. Vanilla Civ4 starts and I get the error message when I try to load the mod from the main menu and only getting the regular game when I start from my shortcut. I'm thinking I need to reinstall everything and start from scratch.

Well, I seem to have an issue more than C2C. I reinstalled Civ4 and still can't launch C2C. I tried to load anymod and I get the same message. :(

It's the Steam version so it already has 3.19. I *think* I got it though. Pessimistic optimism. I deleted everything in the cache folder and changed Mod = 0 to Mod = Mods\Caveman2Cosmos and it loaded C2C okay. Of course, tomorrow is another day.
Thanks for all the help, regardless. ;)

Sorry, I did not look at/change spawn rates for 'not PAN' and 'PAN' settings. That was Toffers. So do not know which files to look at.

General spawn rates yes - but not 'non-PAN' specific. :(

I'll have to remind myself how to go about that then. You could PM Toffer to ask him - he might get to the answer before I do, if you'd be willing to help with that.

Sorry, to many things happening over the next 2 months. So can lurk but not really help.

Until Toffers comes back try changing these settings in "New_Dawn_Globaldefines"

Reduce them.

PAN specific spawn rates can be adjusted in the Civilizations.XML. I never got time to really test those values, so please modify them at will.
It is specified for each individual NPC.
