Six-Months War; Take 4

OOC: That genocide comment by Greece was OOC.
An OOC statement about IC intentions. Also, a certain Greek has not yet proven capable of discerning OOC from IC, so we cannot be sure. Finally, the two posts I made on the matter were OOC, but I'm sure there's a nice European nation to do the job for me should it be necessary.

I'm very much interested in joining this. I'll take the Ottomans, Portugal, or Ireland.

No remember the III one was overthrown and the Duke of Savoy (Emmanuele) became king

I'll work on editing all that in, then.

ooc: ZeletDude, you do not know me well. In most IOT's and NES I have played, I have never surrendered. You will have to take over all of Greece. Even if you give me back all of my land + the Agean Italian Colonies, I will not make peace. You will have to fight until all of Greece is taken over. And I assure you, it shall not be easy.

I'm not going to tell you what to do, and what not to do, but please keep in mind that IOTing =/= NESing. While I view war, fighting, and the satisfaction of victory all as key components of NESing, ultimately it is a role-playing game, and your actions should reflect those of actual, sensible leaders. I won't make assumptions about anything that's going to happen, but just keep that in mind.

I would like to switch to Republican China, if you don't mind LizardKing :)

That's no problem. Just as a heads up though, you don't really have stats, as nothing is really certain. You know you have a couple thousand soldiers at your disposal, but when push comes to shove, it's hard to really geiger it. You're still fairly disorganized, don't have industry.. etc. When you start to organize yourself a bit better, and accumulate more support, I can give you stats to work off of. Aside from that, make the rebellion your own, including leaders, issues, goals, etc.

Few background questions real quick.

1. Communism is called "communism" is this TL, right?

2. Russia is communist as well?

3. Is Germany is vehemently anti-communist, as I seem to have the impression?

1. Yes.

2. No, Russia is a Soviet Republic. (Yes, they are. ;))

3. You'd have to ask Germany that. A social-democratic movement is growing in Germany, but it's hard to guess if that's just a bi-product of the growing liberalization happening in many autocratic governments.

Um. Apologies for not giving orders for either of the first updates. I would like to take Denmark, seeing as P_F left, if that is alright.

No problem, you are Denmark.

The Dutch East Indies only got +8 EP, not the +10 mentioned in the update. Also, did my continued factory-building yield anything?

You lost 2 EP in the update, from Brazil inching in on your industry. Also, it did, thus the +10 EP.

You forgot to add the troops I recruited

Fixed it.

I'm very much interested in joining this. I'll take the Ottomans, Portugal, or Ireland.

You can have the Ottomans if you're brave, but I imagine they'd be more of a headache than anything for you. Portugal and Ireland are both also open. You let me know which one you want, and hop in for diplomacy at anytime. Send me a PM if you want some more details on your nation.

Where to begin? We appreciate the reforms, but since your government seems willing, we feel compelled to petition for more. We'd namely like a more fair minimum wage, equal economic opportunities, some form of self-governance, access to fair and equal education, basic rights that the average Dutch citizens get (freedom of assembly, no censorship), more religious tolerance and more money to be dedicated towards the internal needs of our islands, not for economic gain, but for basic human needs; hospitals, railroads, sanitation centers, etc.

We spent years fighting to be separate from you puppets, and Great Britain, the puppet master. We have no hostile intentions towards you, but we very much wish to remain as far from Capetown and London as possible.

We see no reason we should give up our land, because some groups incited a revolt. A revolt, which will summarily be crushed this year. Should we allow for international pressure to force us to simply give up land we have owned for years, it would be setting a dangerous precedent that we have seen occur many times for other nations.

I'll read all the updates on the morrow and get back to you on that, then.

Very nice update. Thanks.

With the holiday and everything, I will be accepting orders up until Tuesday, though it'd be nice if everyone can still get them in by Monday.

Am I blind or is the current map not to found in the first 10 posts?

The current map comes with the update. I've never made a habit of updating the front page with the current map, but if that's something people think I should do, I can do so. The entirety of the front page needs an update, something I planned on doing tonight, after I get myself some turkey.

Oh, my mistake. How about page one links to maps and updates?

Well there are links to all updates except the most recent one on the front page. That comes with me just updating the front page all at once, instead of bit by bit.

Thanks; I'm good then.

Quebec is Proud to announce that it will be Holding a national Election this Year

Presidential Candidates:
Pierre Thomas Brown - Partie du Quebec
The Current Ruling party, The Partie Du Quebec, Formerly the Nationalist Party, is strongly nationalist. Devoted to the advancement and preservation of Quebecois Culture, this party is clearly responsible for the strong success of Independent Quebec, Forging ties with other nations and Supporting the Arts. This party is clearly the most popular in Quebec, as it stands, but hold a Minority Government, Holding 49 Seats

Jean-Pierre Loucat - Partie Socialist
The Socialists are the second most popular party in Quebecois Politics. Allied with the Partie Du Quebec, and with ties to Communist parties around the world, they are responsible, in the past few years, for many of the Social and Industrial Actions of the Quebecois Government. The Recent University of Quebec Program was a pet project of Loucat’s, who has seen a number of other successful projects in terms of Industrial Development. They Currently hold 21 Seats.

Cristophe Charboneau - Partie Conservateur
Holding only 11 seats seats, The Partie Conservateur (Which is closely tied to the Anglophone Solidarity Party) are opposed to the Split with Canada. While they understand that reunification is not possible, they maintain that Quebec was better off as part of the Dominion, And would seek to reestablish much closer ties with the UK and Canada, and distancing themselves from the United States.

Stephane Beaupres - Partie Du Bien-Etre de la Foi
Holding only 5 seats, This party recognizes that Quebecois in the past decade have been distancing themselves from the Catholic church, and seek to reverse this unwelcome trend. They see the Church as an integral part of Quebecois Identity, and the growing emptiness of the Monastic Orders a sign of Quebec’s Growing Decadence. They would, if Elected, attempt to tie the church much more closely with the National Government.

Daniel Therat - Anglophone Solidarity Party
While more or less comfortable with the Sovereignty of Quebec, this party wish to protect Anglophone Culture, which they see as being destroyed by Francophone Culture. In particular, they are afraid that English will disappear in Quebec, with Children of Anglophone parents being taught only French in school. They worry that Quebec will not remain competitive in the world without English. They Control 6 seats.

Jeremie Tekakwitha - Partie Aboriginal
Controlling 8 seats, the Partie Aboriginal is a party which claims to represent the Aboriginal people of Quebec. While detractors argue that there are too many Aboriginal Factions with different interests to be represented by a single party, the Party maintains that it holds the Well being of all aboriginal people at the heart of it’s Mission, from the Inuit in the North to the Mohawk near Quebec. They argue that, as a single unified front, they can accomplish more for Native rights than if every group tried to send a representative.

The following is an excerpt from a pamphlet circulated by the Government of His Imperial Majesty the Emperor.

Our Place in the World

One does not have to travel far through the Islands to see the incredible achievements that the Japanese Nation has accomplished. Ours is a mighty people, and it in the aftermath of the Great War, we are left at a crossroads. Since the great liberation of our people from the hands of the corrupt Shogunate and its Samurai minions by the most venerable Emperor Meiji, we have grown and developed into a nation wielding extreme power in the world. Through the reforms created Emperor Meiji, our great people have realized our power. There is no nation in the world that can challenge our hegemony in East Asia. We have fulfilled our destiny, and now we must journey into the future.

The Qing Dynasty is an aging institution that has proven its inability to effectively lead China into the future. It is becoming clear to The Emperor that the time of Manchu Qing ruling over Han China is nearing its final days. China is a nation in collapse, and the recent rebellion is evidence of that. Though we cannot be sure path China will take, the people can rest assured with the knowledge that our Great Empire will be at the forefront of efforts to build a new and independent China. The current Chinese government is merely a puppet of European outsiders. We all place full confidence in our enlightened Emperor to make the right decisions, and adopt a policy that will not only benefit the people of Japan, but the people of East Asia as a whole.

The institution known as the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere, under the leadership of Dai Nippon, must be expanded to eventually include the entire region, from Manchuria to Indonesia. The Empire of Japan must be strong. The great people of Korea, Formosa, the Philippines, Indochina, Siam, and Malaysia are already under our enlightened guidance. We have no doubt that the day is soon coming when the people of China and Manchuria will overthrow the oppressive Qing and establish their own destiny, as will the people of Indonesia. Indonesian nationalist movements are growing constantly, and the Chinese people are standing up to the oppressive Qing. It is the continued destiny of Nippon, as the protector of all of East Asia and the most enlightened leader of the region, to provide full support to these movements. Eventually, all of East Asia shall rise up and be free!

The Popular Coalition

With the end of the Great War, the diplomatic reversals which transpired, and the massive geopolitical shifts internationally, as well as the domestic damage to industry, there was discovered a massive desire for internally self-sufficient politics in Belgium. The Popular Coalition is the term used in Belgian politics to describe the trend of general compromise and unanimity between the major political factions which re-entered politics with the end of the war. Technically the government is currently run by Catholic majority, but they have been reluctant to use party whip during this time when all the parties of Belgium are reorganizing their platforms and beliefs to match the altered interests of the people, and global geopolitics.

Belgian Political Spectrum

Catholic Party

The reigning conservative party of Belgium, the Catholics have historically contested the Belgian parliament since the Revolution, contending against the Liberals until the late 1800s and the rise of the Nationalists. The party has been historically pro-clerical and in favour of a strong monarchy, however since the Great War and the Popular Coalition, the party has evolved its economics to favour interventionist policies. Their leader and the Prime Minister of Belgium, Jules de Decker, is a serious and administrative politician, whose straightforward persona has won many voters for the party, though he has been a main proponent of the Popular Coalition and multi-partisan cooperation in this time of reorganization.

Liberal Party

The second historical combatant for political primacy has been the Liberal Party, which also developed shortly after the Belgian Revolution. The old motif of the Liberals has been freer trade and stronger business, as well as a staunch anti-clerical stance, however the Great War has massively affected confidence in their old ideals. Currently the party believes freedom of trade should be opened as soon as Belgian industrial recovery can be achieved, and in tandem with the Popular Coalition, has worked with both the Catholics, Nationalists and Socialists in legislating and executing this united economic recovery. Their most recent leadership race has elected Sabine Anciaux, who won largely on his flexibility and good relations with the conservatives across the floor.

Nationalist Party

After an internal dispute within the Catholic Party, the splinter organization was created in 1887, founding Belgium’s modern Nationalist Party. The Nationalists have touted themselves as the most modern party, espousing a conglomeration of multiculturalism, religious pluralism and mixed economic policies. They consider national unity, supporting the king and empire primary objectives of the state, and have repeatedly criticized neutrality. Andre Jans manages the party to date, and has given tacit support to the Popular Coalition; many commentators think the party is trying to maintain a reason for voters to prefer the Nationalists over the entire Popular Coalition, and is branding themselves to appeal in this fashion.

Labour Party

Founded in the 1892, in a café in Brussels, the Labour Party of Belgium found a political niche which maintained it several representatives in the Belgian parliament for several decades. The socialists were overwhelmed outside the urban constituencies, but have gained support since the end of the Great War and have a newly extended legitimacy across Belgium. They too joined the Popular Coalition, promoting governmental unity and social equality with their earnest leader, Dominique Mahoux, whose charisma is unmatched among the party leaders in Belgium.

I'm enjoying the in-depth canon stuff guys. You're giving me more to write about. :)

The front page should be updated. If you see any mistakes/things that should be added to the encyclopedia, let me know.
