Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

Hack and Slash guy here. So I would be taking a human warrior I guess. Don't care for morality in RPG, unless it has some consequences that will deprive me of obtaining the best armour, swords and such.

I played a Light-Side soldier/guardian in the two KotOR games and my first ever Morrowind character was a Dunmer warrior-wizard, so I completely understand the "good bruiser first" idea.

I started as a scout and then went consular. I plowed right through enemies like every other Jedi, but possibly a bit faster (might have had something to do with me always having master speed on and not microing the AI...)

I'll probably do some kind of battlemage.

I always go with swords because most games favour swords over other melee weapons with a greater variety, better animations, skills, and wider range of unique and/or magical blades.

Sad but true. The only game where I've ever seen non-bladed weapons to have a decent use is in Dragon Age, since BioWare actually bothered to add AP. God I love maces.

I'm the exact same, the furthest I ever strayed was to try a Dwarf warrior in Dragon Age, instead of the standard human. For Skyrim, I think I'm going to try and go for a Nord 50/50 Warrior/Mage split. I haven't looked into the mechanics yet, so I'm not too sure how feasible it is. But that's what I'm gunning for at the moment. It seems like a good way to get a feel for the game as well as suited to the way I like to play.

Like most other open-world games, I'm going to do the first mission of the main quest, get distracted by everything else, and stop playing before I finish it. I had like three fully-leveled characters in Oblivion and only ever made it as far as the Siege of Kvatch in the main storyline. I love exploring and I'm an obsessive dungeon delver.

Nords have bad magicka I think, but you can do anything you want in TES, so it's not that big of a deal.

Probably going to play a ranger-style character, which tend to be my default (unless I'm playing Baldur's Gate II in which case I invariably end up with a human fighter (kensai kit) dual-wielding katana dual-classing to mage). I like sneaking up on beasties and turning them into pincushions, and I like swinging a sword at them when the pincushion approach fails.

(If nothing else, the game would already be a 1000% improvement over Oblivion if they changed all references to "mudcrabs" in random dialogue with references to "dragons")

Oh, I'm sure the crabs will be back one way or another.

Worst case scenario, we'll get a statue of one.

It has been confirmed!

THEY'RE BACK

(it's probably old news, but it's still hilarious that they're in)

it's leaking left and right, I'm actually headed to a friends' place to play it 8 days before it's out this evening :D

You lucky sod. :p
Anyway, I cannot tell if it's believable or not, but at least it's boosting my expectations. Don't exactly care much for werewolves, so I'm not going to be too dumbfounded or depressed if it's proven wrong. The armor and weapon upgrading sounds fun so far though. I'm definately gonna spend a lot of time on that.

BTW, slimes are win. Too bad they're not a part of TES from what I've seen.

I require some sort of program to run the installer you just posted, Gekko, so it would be nice if anyone could tell me what I might need to run it. :)

Get OBMM - Oblivion Mod Manager, though if you're up to date with Wrye Bash, Boss, BAIN and so on, it would probably be better to use them instead.
