Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

My opinion is that I'm less worried about the streamlining in Skyrim than in other games out there. However I'm a little wary with what I've seen of the user interface, especially inventory and skill management and all that.

Thanks for that. I'll sit back and wait for the dust to settle then. :)

I really don't have a dog in this fight TBH.

Alright, Skyrim is almost here. I must say my goodbyes to you fellow CFC'ers. :) As my most anticipated game ever comes out. I'll be migrating to Nexus forums for obvious reasons. But as I'll always be a civ fanatic, I will come back in 2 or more months. I always do, as civilization games are the only ones I always eventually come back to when all other games grow old on me. :)

Dumbed down? Perhaps. The way the spells seem to work here can be deemed as such.
There are less skills to pick out of the bunch, and it seems to me that you can only give a startup-boost to some skills focused on basic "classes" such as magicians, warriors, and thieves. I know there aren't any classes in the game, but those stones you can activate seem to be replacing that "class"-status you were given in Oblivion. And you had a definate choice on which skills you would focus on in that game.

It can be deemed dumbed down by some. I don't mind these changes at all, since combining spells seem to be verrry attractive to me for example. :)

I am perhaps dumb for saying this, but as long as the fighting is satisfying, I won't care too much about how smart the system is or how dumbed down it is. Either way is fine, really.

I won't be getting Skyrim. My computer is too old and won't be able to run it, which seems strange when it should work without problems on an Xbox 360.

I've mentioned that three times. What the crap is going on? How can a 360 play it while a PC that could play Oblivion can't?

Does the 360 version just suck that much?

I guess it must be the optimization or something. We all know how great Bethesda is at that kind of thing. :)

The 360 is fairly powerful and you shouldn't forget that. Plus the system has no background tasks and can focus almost unanimously on the game.

Most X-box 360s do not have a hard drive, (or have the ridiculous 4 gig one that the cheaper slim model has) and have to buy one at a much inflated cost. Also the keyword is start, Skyrim won't be using it.

For anyone like intersted, who can't afford skyrim or isn't 100% totally interested in it right now (I only just sorta got into oblivion heh), this guy will be streaming it on Friday starting at 9am PST.

Slightly spoilerific image, should be safe to view.

I wonder... is this "you" from Oblivion?

Will the gameplay or UI be different?

Most likely no and why should it be? Elder Scrolls are all about graphics, story and open world. There won't be any kind of super-deep gameplay anyway.

At least graphics look good, even on Xbox. It's interesting to see if the story material is any better than in Oblivion.

Definitely younger than the last time you saw him. I would say yes. It is canon, after all. What kind of champion wouldn't want to settle down as a Daedric prince?

Graphics? You play TES for graphics? You're in the wrong place, bub.

Oblivion was all about the awesome graphics when it first came out, and to me it seems pretty obvious compared to morrowind that with oblivion they turned focus away from world depth and gameplay to attract people with omgawesome visuals.

Thankfully it seems it's not that way this time. Kind of a good side of games being made on old engines.
