Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

Never seen FOV in one of my games before, or at least knew what it did. What's the best setting for it?

FOV needs to be changed as described in the links provided by Maniacal. You can experiment, it can go from very low to very high; the max of 120 gives you a weird fish-eye perspective. It seems values between 85 and 95 fit most people who have had a bit of trouble with it. Maybe that problem applies more to wide-screen users I'm not sure.

I'm finding it OK so far. Shouting is fun, but the combat is still rubbish and the NPCs lifeless.

Jeepers Creepers, Magic is so much fun now! I'm finding myself spending less time on my Argonian assassin and more on my Khajit mage, emulating the adventures of Katia Managan on an Elder Scrolls MSPaint Adventure I frequent; http://prequeladventure.com/

Okay, so, I got this game - I'm in the opening cutscene, where my head is on the chopping block... and then nothing happens. The guy reading off the list derps off into a wall, the dragon just loops up overhead, and the executioner just stands there with his axe at the ready. Any fix for that?

Those of us who don't have the game yet now know how the game starts, and I really would rather not know any more about it. I expected a prison. Not that.

Is that some kind of cel shading mod or does the game look like that on min details ?

The guy was playing around with lowering his settings and got carried away with his tweaks.

Also the peak today for Skyrim was 274,410 at once (210,000 currently). I really hope they put the money to good use for the next TES.

Anyone playing this have a Mac? I have a Mid 2009 MBP 2.53 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gb 1067 Mghz DDR3. I've seen online where other Mac users are running it, but I was curious about people here.

I'd really like to get into yet another a discussion about how awful Macs are for gaming or buying, but as I'm already in at least one right now, I'll have to take a rain check.

Considering that has nothing to do with my question, I'd rather you didn't.

My issue is fixed.

I can wait until it's 50% off. IMO it's not worth a full price.

I agree. While steam is convenient, I feel sorry for people buying it over steam. Around here you can buy it as retail for 10-15€ less than the steam version and then you have the option to sell it when you're done with it.

I don't know why you'd feel sorry for people buying it on Steam, it isn't like they are forced buy it from Steam instead of retail, the price (unless there is an additional discount) is the same in North America at retail (if not significantly more on Amazon).

Skyrim uses Steamworks and hence requires Steam anyway.

The problem with steam prices is that they convert $50 into €50 when you can get it in a store for about €40. Unless there's a special deal or the Euro falls below one Dollar it doesn't make sense for me to buy games from steam. If I don't get a physical disc I expect my game to be at least 25% cheaper than the retail version, not 25% more expensive.
