Ugh, the game scared the hell out of me just now. I've been playing with surround sound for many years, but for some reason a skeever coming up from behind me and switching from right back speaker to left back speaker scared the hell out of me. I thought some wild animal was in my room. Usually I'm expecting it, but this thing came up fast and unexpected.
My character is getting stronger now, and I'm not struggling like I used to. I will still die if I'm just charging into battles where I'm outmatched. Tougher battles, I still do need some tactics to stay alive. I prefer to keep the difficulty on the middle setting, and not lower it. So if I die a few times, that's okay. One mistake I made was I had no sign. I missed it at the beginning of the game apparently. I picked up the astronach sign since magic users are still pretty tough for me.
As for the skill system I like it much better than Oblivion and Morrowind. This is easily the best Elder's Scroll game in my opinion. Yes they simplified things, but they added perks which helps make up for that. If only the perk interface wasn't so unwieldy. I've been concentrating my skills and perks so I don't get into a jack of all trades scenario. I've concentrated on Destruction, one handed weapons. light armor, restoration, alchemy, sneaking, and speech kind of goes up a lot on its own. My perks go into combat related trees. I did put one point into alchemy, and I think one into sneaking, but the rest has gone into destruction. light armor, one handed blades, and restoration (not too many here, but i like the one that gives magicka regeneration).
