Where can you find the camp? :)

Yeah, this pretty much sums up my experiences with horses in Oblivion. I spent like 90% of my savings to buy a horse, ride it a good 200 feet out of town, when all of a sudden a bear spawns and begins mauling it. So I dismount, at which point the horse immediately begins pealing off into the wilderness with the Bear close behind and me a good 50 feet further back. Poor sucker didn't even stand a chance :(

My main character owns other horses, but he only rides a black unicorn he obtained near Vilverin. Said unicorn dies and then gets back up again after one minute. :)

Ah, that's the invincible horse my brother mentioned then.

It's north of Whiterun. There's two small lakes on the map, the camp is just northeast of them.
There's a Redguard in Whiterun who wants his stolen family sword back, he'll give you a map marker.

There's only one unicorn and one invincible horse. Unicorn is wild and the horse is from the Dark Brotherhood questline. Unless you're playing a mod or Skyrim, I seriously doubt you.

Of course - Slof's Black Unicorn, no less. He's just as fast as Shadowmere (the default invulnerable horse) but is a lot cooler to ride. :)

Anybody have any particularly hated locations? I think Markarth is fast becoming the worst one for me. Annoying city layout, lousy weather, dull aesthetic, and tedious quests.

I just hit a game breaking bug :/

Since the beginning, carriage rides haven't worked for me. I pay for the ride, I crawl into the back, and nothing happens. This is fine, I don't need to take a carriage ride, I'll just run.

However, in this quest, I have to take a carriage to a party, and there's no choice in it. So now I cannot move my character, and she is simply standing beside a carriage. I can look around, I can turn my character, but I cannot move, I cannot access my inventory, the map, cannot interact, etc.

Well, the game was fun I guess?

Quoting this for good measure. Anybody any ideas to fix the carriage bug? I tried googling but it only said that carriages don't work whenever you are over-encumbered, however every time I try, I am well below the carry limit. For what it's worth, I am playing on PC.

Is that the only place where you can get a Transmutation spell?
Also, are there in-game hints, or would I have to find it randomly?

Skyrim is a million times better than WoW (or any MMORPG for that matter).

Shenanigans! There's no multiplayer or PvP in Skyrim, Oblivion, etc...

Yes, definitely Markarth. And the people are either weird or unfriendly or both. AND you get thrown in jail just for trying to help people out a little bit. :( In fact, the Rift in general is an unpleasant place. Damned weird people. I also don't like the town to the NW that isn't Solitude. It's got a bit of a fishing town from "The Painted Lady" episode of Avatar type of aesthetic. Another strange bunch of people.

Are there any interesting statues of Potema the Wolf-Queen in Solitude? She's certainly one of the most famous Nords in history.

The civil war quests are fun. I've sided with the Empire, and have just been promoted to the rank of Quaester. So far, so fun.

Can I heartily recommend the daedra prince quests to everyone. I've done a bunch of them now and in addition to the cool artifact you inevitably get at the end, they're all really top-notch quests with a whole bunch of individual touches. Leagues better than Oblivion.

For smithing I've found the most efficient way to level is to travel between Solitude, Whitehaven and that small hamlet at the beginning buying all of their iron bars and some leather for strips to make daggers. Also Dwarven ruins have a bunch of junk you can melt down to make ingots, I got over 200 out of one place which is great for cash.

I think it'd be cool if a dragon eats my horse.

I think it's actually much easier just to play the game properly and go on with your quests. A single bear or saber cat hide yields 4 leather, which that can be turned in 4 leather strips, and you only need 2 leather stripes and 1 leather to forge Leather gloves.

On a single trip you can gather enough hides for at least 10 of those, cheap, easy and not boring.

I did The Break of Dawn and liked it very much, except for the fact that the boss battle was very hard and I had to reload it twice after I won because Lydia kept dying.
I also did House of Horrors, but I undid it with reload magic because it's a bit too evil for my character.

Alright here is an easily triggered annoying bug you might want to avoid since it forced me to use the console to get my companion back:

When you talk to your companion, there is an option that says "I need you to do something", once you select this, your cursor changes and you can get your companion to attack specific targets, open levers, sit on a throne, etc, and most of the time, just point at some spot and tell the companion to "wait there". I've used it several times before stealthy missions , before I wanted to sneak past guards without the companion, or before going into super tough fights where they keep getting killed because they're stupid. When you do a "wait there" click, the companion walks to the place you pointed at, and stays there until you talk to him or her, open the discussion menu, and ask him/her to follow you again.

Well this "do something for me" pointer system can be accessed without entering conversation mode. You just hold E while targeting the companion, the cursor then changes, and you can direct the companion to wait in a specific spot, attack, etc.

Now, when you are trespassing, Lydia, and I think most characters, refuse to enter conversation menu with you. They simply say "You are not suppose to be here".

God help you if you used the HOLD E shortcut and told your companion to wait WHILE IN A ZONE CONSIDERED "TRESPASSING" (since you don't enter conversation menus with the HOLD E shortcut, they don't say "you are not supposed to be here"). Because now you can't open a conversation with them to tell them to FOLLOW YOU AGAIN. You can still HOLD E on them and tell them to go and do stuff within that zone, but they won't follow you through an exit door if they're not actually FOLLOWING YOU, which you can't tell them to do because they keep saying "You're not supposed to be here!" (You need to open a conversation with them to get the FOLLOW ME option!).

The only way I got my Lydia back was to exit the trespassing area and respawn her in front of me with a console command.

So really, don't use the companion orders system in a trespassing zone... Or don't bring them there if you're planning on wanting to have them wait anyway.

I've had two companions die on me, including Lydia, done a bunch of stuff without one, just picked up another one after doing the Azuras Star quest.

I finally had my first companion death. Lydia died during the mage quest to save winterhold (town). It's a long battle, and I wasn't going to reload, there are plenty of companions. I was going to pick up a mage companion, but couldn't do so while the college was in that state. I picked up the woman you can get into a fistfight with in the bar in White Run. My horse died in that battle too, but I never use it anyways. It just gets in the way.

So what determines if companions are killed or just yield, and kneel (and get back up later)?

Hard to believe I'm going on 42 hours played now. Almost 2 days. Wow. Speaking of WOW, Skyrim is better than wow as a single player game for sure. Skyrim would be the best ever if you could co-op. My brother an I were talking how cool it would be to co-op since we were both at the same point in the mage college quests. That would be cool. WOW is more addictive than Skyrim, but it's not a better rpg. It's addictive in a bad way.
