The Minotaur points his weapon at the Monk and Ranger respectively then he gives a quick nod with his head towards the Ghost. On which he walks away again.
Your abilities (+) are what you use. Your resistances (x) and weaknesses (-) are what you want and don't want an opponent to use against you respectively. If for some reason you are weak to opponents that know singing, and you buy an item that allows you to sing, that won't make you any less weak to others singing. So if you have -Singing and buy +Singing, you now have -Singing and +Singing. Crystal clear?
(Btw, no character can have -Ability and xAbility for the same ability. You're either weak to, resistant to, or neither. +Ability is separate, you can combine that with either option.) }
As the day lazily crawled towards its evening rest, the voting picked up speed and the choices for morning combatants were clearly crystalized by the time the sun was setting over Jubilee. The Monk, eager for blood, had challenged the Lich to a duel, but instead would find himself facing the taciturn Ranger. The latter would have the opportunity to magically customize the arena, to fight in an environment of his liking. With little else to occupy themselves with, speculations on what the arena would look like come morning were in high fashion, though no one could imagine the Ranger picking anything but a nature scenery of sorts.
The votes for team leaders were only slightly more controversial, but by the end of the day all teams were appointed a leader without bloodshed, to the disappointment of some over-eager spectators who were hoping for some early action. Perpentach had long since retired to his palace together with his clown retainers, eagerly awaiting the morning when the first blood would be spilled. As the newly appointed team leaders were called up to come and fetch their badges, they were given their first and most important task - to decide on actual team names.
As the sun finally grew tired of Jubilee, minor officials hurried around in the arena to magically light the many shining spheres and globes that cast the arena in a perpetual dancing light. There would be no lull in activities, even if some of the contestants went to bed for a while. There would be the betting, both among the contestants and the spectators, and every bet laid by a contestant would be announced and echoed throughout the arena for the amusement of all. Trust the Balseraph to make anything a festivity.

I don't like betting, too much luck, but it seems that this is an opportunity too good to miss. However, I don't like him, so 5 gold on the Monk. (Yes, I do mean 5)
