What's wrong with opinions if they are reasonably explained if people cannot agree about something as a fact?

Because while Red Luke wants to do this, I know that unless the thread is 100% objective it will degenerate in typical CFC:OT fashion. Even if Luke kept it 100% fact, it probably still would.

How about we do this as a briefing, interview? Luc comes here as a ideological guru and one of us playing the journalist (or three or four?) would pose him questions from the "audience" (previously reviewed by him or some board). After the Q&A is finished the flour could be opened for comments, further questions and an open discussion.

That's way too overmoderated. I support a thread as the OP suggested but what you are proposing is a police thread, elitist and breaking a good number of forum rules. Might be the first thread of this kind that CFC ever had, and I am NOT willing to encourage setting such a precedent.

Trolls can just be ignored, if they show up.

Well I kind of agree there but I think everyone is free to express their opinion as long as it doesn't become personal vendetta towards someone or the subject or change the subject of the thread.

In my opinion socialism/communism is quite large subject so I think some things should be cut of at the beginning and the discussion made more streamlined.

But it would require some heavy moderation and not sure are the folks here up to it.

I'd like to see that thread going, specially because Luceafarul and I have had a few goings on this before, and I detected we have some unusual disagreement-oriented grievances about topics of communism and socialism. I'd specially like to explore the topic of classification between communism/socialism be "right-winged" or "left-winged".

I must warn, though, that come next Monday, I'll also be on vacation, and with free time, I can be rather overwhelming in my writing...

It will be fresh air so i endorse it but i do doubt whether you will attempt to answer in a sufficient manner either because of insufficient questions or because i think your opinions (A communist i believe) on communism need very lengthy answers to be justified as sufficiently answering most juicy questions IMO and i am not sure if you will give them , if you can give them, or if you will go to the easy route. And that is just because i don't really remember many of your posts so don't take this as an insult.
