get it, they're all F# Advisor Screens?? ahh..forget it...here's the save: (edit: ohhh, that's why you think i didn't post the save...i had this as one post first, but didn't know there was a 12-pic limit, so i broke it into three, but the attachement stayed on the first one...:D)

good night. will analyze tomorrow.

also, welcome to the new guy!! :)

welcome spinoza

guys, i'll post my turn log & save until tomorrow (hope that is before due time)

Spoiler :

I did an excel analysis of every critical factor I can think of between mine and splime's saves, projecting ahead 10 turns. This will give us an idea of where we are, and where we'll be. If Pholk posts his save, I'll add his to the list as well, then Auto's.
analysis_at_60.xls

Edit: updated to add Pholk's save that idiot poster didn't see.

Great chart rex.

Spoiler :
I'll download your save soon pholkhero. Might be a problem with a failed attempt at religion (rex seems to have just barely got Hinduism), but I'll see what else your save has. Also, we come to another voting issue that we'll hopefully come over -- not including pholkhero's save, my save and rex's are completely different playstyles, as I've got the improvment techs, but you've got (with a GP of course) a research raising capability. I'm almost considering either the "play 10 more turns" (which wouldn't be sufficient) or just letting everyone pick the save they want to use. I'll think about it more when autocon's save is in (and Spinoza's if he's joining this round).

Spoiler :
I think, this is the time to have the Cult victory discussion b/c if we're going to go for it, we need to start planning now, and that would tell us which save to use. I agree, that, w/my miss @ Hinduism, you 'out-infratstructure me' for sure. We'll have to see what the other saves are, but as of now, i like Rex's again, simply for the religion, the city set-up, and the soon-to-be Prod City.

Chart updated to add pholk's data. See original post.

Spoiler :
My save is awefully weak in millitary, but that can be overcome pretty easily. Due to the absolute necessity of putting a warrior in the capital ASAP on mine, Splime's get's city three sooner. Plus, he's one turn away from sailing with a scout just waiting to pop the northern hut. Both Splime and Pholk are in far better shape to explore and fog bust.

Good chart.

Spoiler :
Why i'm for A Culture Victory: on our own island so we may be behind in the tech race, bbut juding from the religions, maybe not. I think our loneliness is the prime factor for CV simply b/c we need to make good amts of gold to run higher sci, and reach right tech ASAP adn this is complemented by a run for religions. Now, we could go with Splime's, but we'd be dependent on the later religions and that would mean less time building up culture. W/Rex, we have Hin, we should nab Jud., grab some worker techs, and go for CoL. Then, expand and build religious bldgs adn wonders all over. I think that the three candidates will be (obviously) Pant, Green (bot cities have enough hills that religious blgds will be NO prob!) & Prod City (for the wonders).

So, i guess in conclusion, there's no conclusion. We just need to figure out amongst ourselves which direction we want to take our empire in...

Spoiler :
On your chart rex, I noticed you stated that pholkhero could get something good from the tech hut. I remember that when autocon popped it in the first turnset, he got hunting. You got pottery this turnset (IIRC), but I, after researching pottery, got gold. 45 to be exact. The same could happen with pholkhero.

About culture -- if we want to win by culture, Rex has the save. However, with that save, I'll probably be concentrating more on military. Then again, culture seems like the best way to go... I've never won by culture before, so if we take rex's save, this'll be interesting to say the least. We need to wait for autocon though. (And maybe Spinoza -- though next round, we start the teams)

Every SG has them -- Dotmaps:

Spoiler :
Yellow dots are seemingly crappy dots that fill in the blank areas. Lone question marks are where I can't think of anything yet. White is current cities.

09northerndots6pa.jpg

That yellow dot seems to have some potential with a lighthouse and some farms (civil service required). Red is one we've all discussed. Green is moved (I think pholkhero moved the dot). Green does better here, with the plains tile opened up. Blue is what I seem to remember from pholks map, I don't remember.

10southerndots3ct.jpg

Pink is the stone city. Dark orange/brown is good for lacking desert tiles, but occupies a useful grassland. The brighter orange takes the plains, but also lots of desert. The yellows are me trying to get a city around the sheep. Darker yellow is less desert, but more overlap with a future production center. Brighter has more desert, but less overlap.

Spoiler :
When i moved green, i had envisioned it as a fishing village...the new way, though it captures teh oasis, also captures 3 dead tiles

Spoiler :
The tiles were mostly dead anyway. The plains tile freed up and the oasis gained are extrememly valuable here.

Spoiler :
I'm not sure we've got the production power for cultural. We'd probably want 9 cities for the temples, and we can do that. But, we'll still need wonders, infrastructure, defense, etc.

We're in a desert and so are the other civs. Domination, conquest, diplomacy aren't phased by the desert as it's all relative. We can only build a few offensive troops, but our enemies can only build a few defensive troops.

But with cultural, you need 3 cities at 75,000 (epic) culture each, regardless of terrain.

Might be tough.

Edit because I forgot the end spoiler tag.

Spoiler :
i think with Pant, Green & Plains, we just might have enough. Also, if we aimed for wonders that we have the 'helping resource' for, that would help our wonder prod.

I'm not too worried about other civs attacking us, as we could aim for control of the seas.

Spoiler :
That's a real issue though. Have you seen any marble?. We've got stone down south that we'd need to make priority if we went culture. Copper would be nice, too, but I've put us a long way from bronze working.

Spoiler :
Good Point with the 75,000 culture in desert conditions. This vote now is seeming to force us to make a decision now -- culture or other. If we don't go for culture, we still have 5 victory conditions we can go for. If we go for culture now however, we may limit ourselves otherwise, and reduce our victory capability.

Spoiler :
true, but: stone: angkor, chichen, notre, stone, gr lthouse, hanging gardens, kremlin, pyramids, spiral minaret; marble: gr libr, hagia sophia, oracle, sistine, taj, versailles; copper: colossus, statue o' lib

also, for culture (and only culture) we shoudl start on it early...if not culture, though, we've got thousands of years to decide...either way, sailing is a priority...and perhaps gr lighthouse

Spoiler :
Don't get me wrong. It could be a fun ride to go cultural. The map seems prime for avoiding confrontation. Put an archer in every city and just build navy. The AI is too stupid (I think) to realize this. THey'll still build a balanced millitary. So we'll always have the naval advantage to take out any landing forces before they ever land.

edit: again, I left off the end spoiler tag
