Steve Jobs Dies

Just heard this. I don't like macs, but I do love my Ipod. His innovation will be missed.

Likewise. I wish I had a decent tribute song to play to him. And say what you will about the products themselves, if you can disassociate them from hipsters, they look pretty cool.

RIP. I never really used Apple much, if at all, but I know many did.

Very sad to see. I've become very attached to my iPod Touch and iPad... they've provided countless hours of entertainment and utility. I hope Apple has a good team of designers, because they're going to need them now.

The song begins at 0.46

I'm a PC fan all the way, but you have to give credit where credit is due:

He's been a bit of an inspiration to me, so I am sad to see him pass.

I'm sad for him too in that I think it's a terrible shame that he did not get to see the new Apple campus get built.

I'm sure it was no coincidence that he left. This explains a lot.

Speaking of visionaries, I think Steve definitely qualifies. He did so much to elevate the world of computing and technology in general.

I think his greatest accomplishment was the Macintosh. While it had its faults, it revolutionized the world of personal computing by bringing the $35K Xerox Star to within the reach of the common man. And the computer world of was instantly transformed as a result.

I agree, I called it in the Apple successor thread. Not that I'm gloating or anything. It's not a good thing to gloat about. I'm not the type of person to do death pools and predict deaths, but I figured as much from what I seen on Drudge (the picture with his low weight) right after he resigned.

I'm listening to songs on my iPod Nano (4th generation) right now. The iPod idea alone, in my opinion, classified Steve Jobs as an expert visionary. Although I think Microsoft could have built it better, you have to credit Jobs for coming up with these ideas first. Newer devices will always be on the market, but there is an appeal, one that Steve Jobs has tapped into, that makes me want to cling to my 4th generation iPod.

Rest in peace, Steve Jobs.

No, it isn't. Jobs cancelled all of Apple's philanthropy programs when he took power. I hate the fact that people are giving this greedy snake a hero's burial. Bad memories of how Jerry Falwell was treated so lovingly.
Moderator Action: You made your point. This is not a "bash Steve Jobs" thread.

Microsoft did make an mp3 player, called the Zune, but it failed to rival the iPod at all.

It figures that Apple's model of CEO would have like 70% of the battery life of the competing brands. :p

Seriously, even though I don't personally use Apple products, Steve Jobs was a true innovator. There's no question that the world is a better place for his contributions. It's too bad he couldn't stick around for another generation, but that's cancer for you. It's such a fascinating and maddening disease...
