Here are several symbols related to the different levels of my location.
This is the historical seal of Paris. It's a river boat illustrating Paris' motto :
"Fluctuat nec mergitur" (fluctuates but does not sink). We can see on top the lilly flower which doesn't represent monarchy in here but actually the colours of "Ile-de-France" (Paris historical region).
Now this is the current logo used by Paris city hall. It's a modernized version of the traditional seal :
Now let's take a quick look on Ile-de-France, this is my region. Ile-de-France is actually the wealthiest region in Europe. It's peopled by 11.5 million people which lives at 95% in Paris area. I will start with the historical flag of Ile-de-France which unfortunately recalls the times of monarchy :
Here's the former logo from Ile-de-France administrative region. I liked it because of its structure. The bud of the flower is red, symbolizing Paris. There are 3 white petals symbolizing the 3 other departments of the city core (I live in one of them). And finally there are 4 larger petals symbolizing the 4 departments from the wider crown (mostly far suburbs).
And that's the new logo they've made. :shakehead
Now about France, this is the national flag. It represents the king (the white colour) enjailed in the walls of Paris (the red and blue colours). Paris represents the people in here. Indeed, French kings decided to move to Versailles because they were scared of the riots people from Paris could cause. It's widely a revolutionary symbol. That's why I'm very annoyed each time I see someone picturizing a French king with that flag behind him.
This is the French Republic seal. For instance, we can see it on passports :
And of course, here is Marianne. At the opposite of what most people believe, even some in France, Marianne doesn't represent France, she represents Freedom. Here's how Delacroix pictured her in his famous painting
"Freedom guiding the people" :
And finally, the pictue wouldn't be complete without the famous (and ridiculous) Gallic rooster :
