The Best and Worst Jobs in the US.

"Best job" meaning the "best" workplace conditions and compensation. I highly doubt many people would want to become mathematicians.

Many of the things that make becoming an actuary so horrible (for most people) would fall under "workplace conditions".

I just can't take a list seriously that puts actuary as one of the "best" jobs.

Seems to be a distorted meaning of "best", to me.

It'd be like saying that a big mac is the best burger, and then not including the actual taste of the thing and/or healthyness as one of the variables.

Depends what kind of workplace conditions people like. Some people even like danger in their job.

Is what I'm saying about the list.

1. Mathematician

Applies mathematical theories and formulas to teach or solve problems in a business, educational, or industrial climate.

^^ that's what the website said. That's a fairly broad definition, one that I guess my job'd fall into...

The best job is clearly Officer of Marines. OORAH

HAHA I actually looked at the list. What kind of out of shape, nerdy, slob made that up?

How many actual sociologists and philosophers are there??

I mean, "Being Shaq" is a pretty sweet job too....if you can get it.

*yawn*

A Federal Judge is the 69th best job? Right below Pharmacist...seriously?

Didn't look at the methodology but that seems...funny.

I'm number 5 ;)

EDIT: Looked at the list some more. Some things make no sense at all... I really laughed at this one:

35. Dental Laboratory Technician
101. Dentist

USPS or Canada Post? :p

USPS. When I stayed with my uncle in Alaska, his neighbour was a 30-year postman who earned something like 50k / year + benefits. He was done by noon.

How is Software Engineer 5th, not 1st?! C'mon, have you SEEN Microsoft or Google campuses?!

Have you SEEN the movie, Office Space?

According to that movie, software engineers answer to multiple bosses, get their staplers taken away constantly, always have broken fax machines & they make more money when they quit to sell magazine subscriptions.

Sigh... if only I had survived Worcester. :(

The city or the sauce?:)

Pornstars are paid horribly.

Not many jobs come with a fluffer, though.:p

Any job sucks when you show up drunk every day.

It only sucks when you sober up.

The only Philosophy PhD I personally know is a full time cook... True story.

There are actually lots of sociologists. That field covers allot of territory.

the majority of software engineers don't work for either of those two firms...and the majority of other firms don't have campusses like that ;)

Did he just throw packages onto porches and sign the release info himself?

Just wondering, since I've been hearing a lot about bad service from certain parcel couriers lately. :p
