The Celestial Bureaucracy

This story is bada**

Agree with what lelouch said.

Nice! Also, lol at Babylon controlling Israel.

I know it's represented that way through the screenshots,
but don't forget that in the story, they are represented more like a union, like Austro-Hungary.
In this case, it would be Judeo-Babylon, achieved through the union of the Houses of Zuckerberg & Khalid respectively.

Russia is looking pretty empty :(

Makes quite a bit of sense in all honesty. Makes them highly well organized as well though.

@strijder20

I don't know if I'll do another story or not.
If I ever do, it will most likely be along the vein of a gameplay-oriented story with short commentary.
I actually wanted to try my hand at modding and make either a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (there's not enough cities though :() or a World of Darkness mod scenario. I've tried modding before and I'm not terribly great at it (perhaps Yoshi could help me if I appeal to his Canadian pride? CFC Empires isn't even done yet though.).

What about My Little Pony versus World of Darkness?

What about My Little Pony versus World of Darkness?

Vampires would die terribly against Celestia; her being the sun and all.
Luna doesn't appear to have anything to do with silver but I'm willing to bet she can take on werewolves with ease.
And mages will find themselves baffled by their inability to affect Pinkie Pie with their spells.

*Ahem*

Onto the update.

Prince Xia Chen surveyed his map of the Indian subcontinent in his camp as the battle to take Madras was raging in the distance and as his aide recited to him a list of messages from various sources. His thoughts drifted off to his family as his gaze burned into the map from staring too long. The young General was a Zhenxia prince and a distant cousin of Empress Song Rui. While both of his parents bore the Xia surname, they were distantly related from one another, with his father bearing an extensive Shin lineage and his mother’s bloodline boasting a heavily Miwa pedigree.

The commander had never met his cousin before, but she had been very good to him and his immediate family. When his mother had fallen ill with the wasting disease, Empress Song Rui had dispatched her own personal physician all the way from the capital in Louyang to Kaesong to take her as a patient. Xia Chen had only met his older cousin once before, when he was too young to remember her face or what she any semblance of what she looked like. But he had clearly been very endearing to her or else she wouldn’t go out of her way to send him gifts every year and visit patronage on his family. She was very dear to him; so when his distant uncle, the Emperor was assassinated by agents of the Republic, and of Empress Song Rui’s sorrow, Prince Xia Chen rose to occasion and pleaded to his cousin, the Empress, to put him at the head of vengeance-seeking Army.

“I’m receiving reports from my insiders on the Vajra side that there are massive sandstorms kicking up from the Gangetic Plain, and travelling downwind into the southern regions. It seems to have been caused by excessive farming, sir,” the aide present stated, reading off of his scrolls. “It would be prudent to take this turn of events into account whilst planning your next move, General,”

“Thank you, is that all?” Xia Chen thanked the aide.
“No. There is one more message, straight from the capital itself,” he responded.
“General, I have a message from the capital saying that you should expect to accommodate several reinforcement divisions in the coming months.
They expect the campaign to drag on, so they’re hastening the flow of supplies & reinforcements to your camps; drawn from the Northeast of course,”
“I am firmly against this idea; diverting resources from the Manchurian Front would devastate the frontier provinces,” Xia Chen replied.
“Actually, sir, if I may be so bold to correct that assumption, ever since the introduction of the new standard weaponry,
the frontier bureaucrats have scaled down troop numbers on their own accord,”
The aide continued, “Operating costs have also been downsized, with scale armor becoming phased out by the militias in favor of their own fur garments,”
“Recalled troops? No armor?” Xia Chen rubbed his temples, “Pardon me, but I fail to see the logic in such absurd maneuvers,”
“Oh, but you have yet to see this new arrangement in action for yourself.
It’s proven quite effective and yielded impressive results,” the aide chuckled.
“Even so,” the General replied. “I fear their deployment may interfere with my strategies.
I haven’t even seen these weapons, let alone know what they do or how effective they are. Why is the capital being so secretive with them?”
“The development was behind closed doors and strictly confined to the capital.
They feared the secrets might have leaked out into Tartar lands and disseminated amongst the nations.
This will mark their first deployment, outside of the Northeastern Frontier,”
The aide hesitated to continue.
“Besides, your wife, Lady Mi, has drilled them herself and will be leading the baggage troop & the reinforcements,”
“What? Why wasn’t I informed of this?” a rare change of demeanor washed over the General as he addressed his aide directly, demanding to know.
“Sir, Lady Mi insisted. There was nothing anyone could do or say to stop her;
I wouldn’t worry, Sir, Lady Mi has an extensive martial record and you know that as well as anyone,”
“I know she can take care of herself; I just wouldn’t trust green soldiers with untested weapons to protect her,” the General stated, not realizing the inherent contradiction in his statement, subsequently failing to mask his concern.
“The troops in question are actually crack soldiers recalled from the north and re-trained in the use with the new weapons before deployment.
The Empress herself guarantees that you have nothing to worry about,” the aide continued as he noticed the grimace on his superior’s face.
“I think it would diminish your fears to know that they are armored units sir,”
“Armored? Just a second before, you said that they were phasing out the armor!”
“They are.”

“They’re being phased out in your Vajra Campaign, you see.”
The General didn’t even know how to respond to that.

It was fortunate too, for an Imperial runner came into the tent and announced the capture of the city.
“What are your orders now, General?”

Prince Xia Chen rose to give his orders. Even though the General was detached, it didn’t mean he couldn’t think on his feet. “Any soldier caught raping and pillaging must be reported and taken back for execution. They will have their rewards if they are patient. Other than that, they are to resume hunting down stragglers and watching for any sign of a Republican counterattack. Allow the native commoners the customary grace period to plunder the homes of their rich. I will personally step out in thirteen hours to have them pledge allegiance to the Empress for her generosity or they will suffer her wrath in consequence,”

“There are refugees pouring out of the west side of the city, fleeing into the Gangetic Plain.
Should we give chase, General?”

“No. Leave them be,”

Bureau Report #214

Agent White Snake reporting,

Eighty Zealot infiltrators were sighted on the periphery of Linzi, en route to Louyang.
They attempted to pose as a traveling circus but all members exhibited the influence as proven by our preliminary **r*br*l scans.
I ordered my unit to open fire on them. Not a single Zealot survived and no ichor gifts were used, per my strict command.
Witnesses were promptly wiped clean of their memories and sent home.
Further scans showed that their intent was to kidnap a member of the Imperial family.
It is to be inferred that they would have taken a target back to Elohim lands to undergo experimentation.

Much like we have done with the Zuckerberg princess centuries before.

Some of the Zealots were Han in ethnicity.

That is worrisome.

I would personally suggest manipulating opinion in the Imperial Court to be more stringent in dealing with religious minorities in the Empire to prevent the spread of the Elohist agenda but I understand he set down the guidelines that they are not to be touched. I will not dispute that decision but need I remind you that the number of Zealot conspiracies within Imperial territory I am unraveling are growing exponentially by the day and I urge you to do something about it. This concludes my report, Hera.

Glory to Nü Wa.

Agent White Snake, over and out.

A note to christos before you take Hera out of context.
I am not indulging your colonial Greek theory for this story.
That being said, I'm not saying anything more about Hera; everything in this story is a conspiracy and the reader must piece everything together.
No nationalist discussions following on the tails of this, please.

Update!
:run:

Give me the mystery!
You can't handle the mystery!

:D

Sorry, I just had to.
Awesome update :) And I'm still trying to piece together the conspiracy.

Don't update when I have to go to school :(

Great update.

Okey, okey. I didnt said anything.

Thank you, christos.

Also, I can't help it if I like updating Sunday night, strijder!
Now, I'm running late for class myself, so gotta go.
Another chapter will be released once I figure out how to make this
whole India chapter as least convoluted and conflicting with future updates as possible.
I'm the kind of writer who thinks up beginning and end at once but finds it hard to develop the middle, so bear with me.

Ah, the benefits of different time zones are uncountable.

Literally ten minutes after I go to bed, and Dawn updates . Great update by the way dawn, this conspiracy of yours is quite... confusing to say the least and piecing it together might be rather difficult. I wonder at which point you will start screaming "It's right in front of you fools, how can you not piece it together from here?!"

All I know from WoD is from Wikis (I won't play the actual game unless I have money/it's a crossover with MLP), but I think that the conspiracies have a lot of influence from that system. We see two major factions, Vampires and Werewolves (Gaurou are what Werewolves are called in oWOD), pitted against the Celestial Bureaucracy, who are probably Mages (the Third faction in WOD) There's a reference to Changelings in the chapter about the New World, but those do not refer to either the ones from oWOD or nWOD (rather, they refer to Vermillion Spring being abducted at birth by the Gaurou and used as a servant).

or Dawn is doin this while reading Elder's post: :wallbash:
or he's doing this: :smug::nope:

:p

I'm not saying it isn't ;)
I'm just saying how Dawn will react when he reads it when you are right (or wrong) :p
(the first reaction is when you're right)

Having reread the battle between Bai and Walker, my "Bureau are Mages" theory is thrown to some doubt. While Bai uses "Paradox", It most definetly is not the same as the Paradox mechanic in WOD (Both incarnations). Not merely that, but while I'm sure that there are factions among Mages that can gain information from eating brains, it is not actually a common power for their kind. And of course, there's the reference to the Bureau as "Serpentspawn".

Edit: Corrected a grammar error.
